So my comp won't turn on and I'm thinking the mobo is fried.

The PS seems to be working as there is current flowing to the mobo and I can also charge my phone via usb.

I swapped the reset button jumper w/ the on/off button jumper to see if maybe the on/off button went bad and it's the same result - it won't turn on.

The mobo is a mico-atx and about 4yrs old, so I'm thinking heat and time finally killed it.

Does anyone have any other thoughts as to what could prevent the comp from turning on?

TIA

Make sure to unplug any usb devices or expansion cards.

If it will not complete the POST you are down to MB, CPU, or memory.

Any audible beep codes?

I wouldn't rule out the PSU just yet. The PSU could stil be feeding power to the MOBO but not enough for instance to boot the PC. If possible, borrow a PSU or use one from an another PC to try to power up your mobo.

Have you alos tried to look up your power output on the bios menu? You can look up the normal power output for your PSU and look at the bios screen to see how much juice your PSU is giving you.

Just a couple things to try before prematurely dump your mobo.

I thought the PS could still be an issue as well but I didn't finish my post yesterday.I got a PS tester at Fry's just for situations like this. I think it was $20 or less.

Still most likely sounds like a MB.

If it won't boot you can't check the BIOS.

Yep...I didn't catch that in his original email that he couldn't post. I would still check the PSU before I move on to the mobo.

Cooling fan. My cooling fan died and my computer acted dead. Replaced the fan and it was fine.
