Really third string.
Ouch! Triple ouch! It is a bad situation when our #1 pick Center can excel only against a 3rd string Center.

Move Ayton to Power Forward and, as I've also posted, Booker to pure Shooting Guard and fill in the rest
of the team accordingly and watch the Suns shine! Not doing so is also wasting a potentially good Coach.

That potentially good coach disagrees with your personnel moves. He's also playing Booker as a shooting guard. Ayton isnt a PF and moving him there would be giving up on 2 1/2 years of development plus create a huge hole at Center. What's your answer to fill that? Let me guess, you don't have one or you'll say that's the GM's job. You're playing fantasy GM now so why stop short?

Even though Ayton played really well today, there's still room to improve. He couldn't hold his position and get the ball a few times when Ja Morant switched on to him and still had a few fadeaways that were not good shots. But, progress is progress and if DA can show up like this every game then most of us would shut the hell up about him.
Shaq said it best during halftime...... This kid should be 20 and 15 in his sleep. I get so tired of waiting for someone who doesn't seem to "want it".

And as far as his game in Memphis. I did see some aggression. GOOD!

I also saw a first half filled with soft as cotton candy layup attempts. Fade Away's. And poorly timed mid rangers.

In an arena where Amare made Stromile Swift look like a flea on his way to the rim for years....... I just can't help to think that we all want something from him that he just doesn't want for himself.

Ayton’s perimeter defense has disappeared. He shows little foot speed the last two games. Tonight, other than a single block on Gordon, he’s been an escort for the layup line.

Its like he only applies himself on one end of the court at a time.

the entire Suns defense has disappeared. Our defensive rankings are now middle of the pack from #1 in pretty much everything

This is where I am at. Defense has to be a team thing. Ayton did his part and more last night.

Last night Ayton joined Marion as the only Suns with 25+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 5 blocks in a game

Larry Nance would like to speak with you -

12/20/87 - 45/15/7
4/2/86 - 31/15/7
12/3/85 - 36/16/5
11/1/84 - 44/17/6 (I was at this one - it was a 3 OT game against Portland)

And so would Alvan Adams -

2/22/77 - 47/18/5 (also 12 assists)

There are zero 47/18/12/5 games in the last 37 years to match Alvan Adams' game against Buffalo in 1977.
There are two 44/17/6 games (Patrick Ewing & Dwight Howard) in the last 37 years to match Larry Nance's game against Portland in 1984.
There are two 45/15/7 games (Dwight Howard & Joel Embiid) in the last 37 years to match Larry Nance's game against Sacramento in 1987.

Alvan Adams was really good too.

Not sure why the article didn't just include them and make it for Suns history. Thanks for the information though

Because it would not seem like as much of an accomplishment then.

We all cherry-pick our facts like that. Don't we?

There's a problem if you equate Alvan Adams stat line with Deandre Ayton's stat line. It's like inflation: Point don't necessarily equal points in a different era. Is Alvan Adams' statline more impressive considering the era he played in, or are Marion's and Ayton's? There's even a difference between Marion's NBA and Ayton's NBA.

Adjusted to 100.3 possessions per 48 minutes (the NBA 2020-21 average) using the Suns season pace for 1976-77 (106.6) and 2020-21 (97.1).

Adams - 47/18/12/5 = 44.2/16.9/11.2/4.7
Ayton - 26/17/5 = 26.9/17.6/5.1

The difference in eras makes a small difference, but certainly not enough when you're talking about a 47-point game.

Does that take into account whoever it was that was defending Adams?

Comparing old nba to today just stupid. The talent level is 1000% higher and players asked to do different things. They should reset all stats and records every 30 years and look at them in eras.
