The logic behind this is if you are over the cap, you need exceptions to sign players. If you are under the cap, you literally don't need exceptions.

I've quit looking for the why of the 2 year contract.

Thought I would bring this thread back since he is starting for us now.

Here is what I like.

Brings D every night. Fast hands, works hard. Makes a difference even without his offense.

Melton should, by all accounts be focusing on assist totals only when he's on the floor. Not a good shooter.

Melton works well in the starting unit and in the rotation. He does a lot of good things, especially by not playing matador defense in the good old Suns spirit. He's not a pushover. He is only a rookie so he'll be up and down, but he always plays hard so he should continue to get playing time. It's up to him to work on his shooting and learn to be a better distributor.
