RAPID CITY — The top four seeds each posted first-round wins Thursday in the state Class AA boys basketball tournament at The Monument.
Here's highlights from the games:
Lincoln improved to 21-1 by outscoring Spearfish 46-21 over the final three quarters.
Sam DeGroot tallied 15 points, Sam Ericsson 13 and Brody Schaefer 11 to go with eight assists for the Patriots.
Cooper Gibbs notched eight points and eight rebounds and Dylon Doren seven and 10 for Spearfish (14-8).
The defending state champion Kernels (19-3) avenged a regular-season loss to the Tigers (15-6) by getting 18 points from Gavin Hinker, 16 points and nine rebounds from Markus Talley and nine points from Colton Smith.
Blake Ellwein surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career, scoring 16 points for Huron. Anderson Porisch added eight.
The Lynx (19-3) rolled into the semifinals with 10-point efforts from Landon Dulaney, Aiden Zerr and Grant Hennen. Dulaney also added nine rebounds and Hennen eight.
Kuek Kuek's 12 points and Damaris Fields' eight topped Jefferson (10-11).
Harrisburg built a 15-point lead with just over five minutes remaining and held off O'Gorman's big comeback.
O'Gorman (13-9) pulled within 46-45 on Jaxson Weeldreyer's 3-pointer with 51 seconds left. Harrisburg (19-3) got free throws from Stellen Larson and Myles Nour down the stretch and survived a potential game-tying 3-pointer by O'Gorman in the closing seconds.
Aiden Costain and Larson each scored 10 points and Nolan Krull nine for the winning Tigers.
Austin Terveen scored 15 points and Weeldreyer 11 for O'Gorman. Nyun Dut pulled down nine rebounds.
