Defenseman Denis Gauthier has been traded from the Phoenix Coyotes to the Philadephia Flyers in exchange for two second round picks and left wing Josh Gratton. This appears to be a good deal for the Coyotes. The market for defensemen has been absolutely crazy today (Gauthier is the 4th or 5th to be moved in the last few hours), so good work to capitalize and aquire a couple picks for an upcoming unrestricted free agent that probably was going to test the FA waters anyways. The key to this deal for the Coyotes is obviously the two second round picks, as Josh Gratton is essentially a throw in. Gratton has bounced around this season between the AHL and NHL, only playing in three games this season (yet racking up 14 penalty minutes!) after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004.
