And we thought we overpaid for Nash. This is just getting crazy the price people are paying for 6th men and back ups.

Im telling you. Going after RFA's is usually suicide.

Normally, the team wants to keep the player (and the player wont mind coming back). The only way someone steals a good RFA is if the team doesn't want him (like Miller last year), or they grossley overpay him.

Manu isn't young either. Isn't he already like 25-26??

You aren't paying for potential at this point, you pretty much get what you see.

I agree. Manu is way overpaid if this report is true. I would rather have Nash than Manu because of what we needed.

I think the Spurs won't match and just sign Brent Barry for a smaller 4year contract to replace Manu.

Actually, it sounds closer to $70m.

Manu is a good individual defender and a great team defender--he takes more possessions away from the other team than just about anybody. He's also a versatile offensive player who's proven he can make them when it counts.

He's the best SG on the market after Kobe, and Denver needed a SG.

Of course, the Suns just paid less than that for an All-Star PG. :D

I love seeing this because the Spurs are screwed either way. They've had it too easy the last couple of years thanks to the max and rookie salaries; by next year, we'll finally get to see whether their front office is any good, or whether they've been riding Duncan's coattails with the rest of the team.

So does Troy Hudson get the same since he is the second best PG out there? Denver has Camelo taking all the shots and Miller is up for a new contract next year. They are going to have to keep space to resign him as well.

If the Suns had to wait to get a "decent deal" on a player then they would have to wait for a loooong time. Most of you dont seem to grasp that concept. Teams are usually willing to match offers or do one better. Thats why players get big money.

Thats why Marion is worth his money...If we didnt pay it some other team would have.

I would rather have Manu than Q based on the rest of our team, but obviously we can't get Manu and we still could get Q. If we got Q, then JJ or Marion would be trade bait for a C.

That is an unbelievable off-season.

I really like Ginobili, he is a great player. I would have given him a contract with 5-6 mil. starting salary (if he can start for my team or can be a 6th man fo a contender team) but 9 mil.? Come on.

it's because there are something like 10 teams, or were something like 10 teams, well under the salary cap this summer while the free-agent market isn't that great. It's a seller's market.

Manu is the player we wish Jacobsen could be. and maybe he can have similar effectiveness driving and shooting out side. Manu is a little quicker and better athlete but Casey could spread the defense if he improves his shot and some ability to open. Casey seems to hesitate due to a slow delivery.

Q is much better but plays a little different role, a little closer to the basket. getting putbacks and def rebounds as well as providing some scoring.

Jeff Hornaceck is the player I wish Jacobsen could be.

Can I get an AMEN. :)

I don't know if he will ever be as good a shooter as Hornacek. Casey is a bit of an unconvential player. Could be a decent scorer he has not looked for his shot much. I may take him a while to acclimate to the NBA and find a role. He is a little like a utility player right now. Won't get you beat but won't do much for the offense either. A pull up jumper would be nice.

Not including the price, I dont know If I agree...

Manu is a damn good fit for us. Q is an athletic guy who nobody knows if he will fit in.

Manu is an average shooter at best. He does play good defense.

Q has good size and is very strong and athletic. He can post up, a great rebounder at 2. Most importantly, he has the 3pt range that separates him from someone like weatherspoon.
