There was lots of talk about him before I left Memphis since the tigers recruited him. He will be one to watch this year for Memphis.

He's also a very good PG, he's a pass first kid. He is NOT a good shooter, his mechanics have gotten better but I compare him to a young Doc Rivers great athlete but streaky shooter, but a more natural PG than Rivers was.

My one issue with Rose on the court is the way he jumps just scares the hell out of me, he always jumps and lands with both feet together straight legged. Hard to put into words but it just looks like a knee injury waiting to happen to me?

He's the other kid besides Mayo where there are rumors about his amateur status(because of his brother Reggie) so it remains to be seen if he really plays for Memphis, but if he does they are going to be one of the big favorites for a national title because they were already loaded.

I watched most of that video and he does some pretty impressive dunks, but I couldn't tell if he was a short SG or the PG because he looks short compared to the other HS kids he was playing against. With him being a PG, I'd rather see a highlight reel of great passes than great dunks. He does have great athleticism though.

EDIT: NBADraft.net has him listed at 6'4 so those must have been some tall HS kids he was playing against.

okay, i know there's a 2008 draft prospects thread, but i just watched a youtube on derrick rose . . . and omg i had no idea how athletic this kid was. i mean, NO idea! i now want to atlanta to lose every single game next year.

check out the youtube in one of the posts on this thread: http://www.basketballforum.com/nba-draft-forum/366796-2008-draft.html
I geuss we could hope to get lucky like the blazers or sonics did this year.. Winning no games doesnt guarentee get you the #1 pick anyways I suppose..

i had no idea how athletic this kid was.

First I ever heard of him was someone stating he had a near 50 inch vert. I assumed it was either made up or he was just an athletic freak with raw basketball skills. Still not sure if that number is correct, but by all accounts he is an athletic freak with amazing skill.

He is the guy I've wanted ever since Atl got #3(even if it is a pipe dream).

If the pick is early lottery, the Suns are almost certain to get an exceptional player. I would not be at all unhappy with Nicolas Batum of France if he plays this year like expected.

I'll be furious if the Hawks make the playoffs next year. Furious.

You know what would make up for all the tough Suns breaks over the years? Getting the first pick in the draft and then winning the NBA championship. That'd make me pretty happy.

You got the order wrong. ;)

draft lotto is decided before the Finals - or don't you remember the horribleness of that god-awful week where we not only got suspended and kicked out of the playoffs, but also had the Hawks pick taken away from us during the WCF.

man, what a bad week that was.

yeah, some very good top of the draft talent. rose, mayo, beasley, lopez, eric gordon, budinger, maybe bayless. that's seven studs right there. and i'm not counting hibbert who will likely go high b/c i'm not a fan him.

Ah, right. I thought ford meant that the Suns would win the 2009 title, with the first overall pick playing a key role, but now I realize that he had it right the whole time.
