MINNEAPOLIS — The Detroit Pistons are paying a price for their reborn physical style this season.

ESPN reported that the NBA on Tuesday decided on suspensions for Ron Holland, Isaiah Stewart, Marcus Sasser for their roles in Sunday night's fight with Minnesota Timberwolves players that spilled into the first few rows under the baseline at Target Center.

Stewart received two games while Holland and Sasser received one game. They are not expected to play for the Pistons in Wednesday's nationally televised game at the NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder (9:30 p.m., FSND/ESPN).

The Timberwolves' Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo were each suspended one game each.

MAGIC NUMBER: How Pistons can clinch playoff spot

With 8:36 on the clock and the Pistons nursing a 39-29 lead, Holland confronted Reid after the latter appeared to scold him following a foul, pointing his finger in the rookie’s face.

DiVincenzo, who had a midair collision with Holland earlier in the period and had been exchanging trash talk with Stewart, came to Reid’s aid and put his hands on Holland. Holland instinctively shoved DiVincenzo’s hands off of him, and both players started shoving each other and fell to the floor.

Stewart and Sasser immediately confronted DiVincenzo, leading to a brawl as both teams moved to protect their own players. Stewart had already been called for a tech after lightly shoving Rudy Gobert earlier in the period. Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and T'wolves assistant and former NBA point guard Pablo Prigioni also had words for each other in the middle of the scuffle, which led to their ejections.

The sequence changed the game and the shorthanded Pistons, already without Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris due to injury, were hammered 123-104.

The Pistons' magic number to clinch a playoff spot is two entering Tuesday.

The Pistons have two more road games this week against the Thunder on Wednesday and Toronto Raptors on Friday, before returning home to host the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
