I'm worried about them not playing as well because of the big loss last week, but I think under Erickson they won't really have much of a letdown. UCLA has struggled, but still has a talented team and it'll be a challenge winning in their house.

Final
ASU 34(with a last minute, meaningless FG that we have to kick before giving the ball back)
UCLA 20

First half
ASU 14
UCLA 10

I am a little worried about this one but only because of our struggles in LA and the fact that UCLA is back against the fence. I think we will win but playing in LA is tough and UCLA always seems to get up when playing us. Our roster is loaded with southern California players, as is UCLA's, which might explain things.

UCLA scored 27 points on the road against a very average uofa defense (and that's being nice). At one point in the season they had a tough defense that shows plenty of blitzes and an agressive defensive line that presures the QB. With our absolutely horrible pass protection, this is a concern. However, they allowed Nic Grigsby (WHO????) to run for 125 yds which is atrocious. Their DB play was worse as their db's looked like high school jv players. They also have their 4th string QB, who was convereted to WR, making the start on Saturday.

That being said, I see us covering the spread (ASU -7) as Nance and Herring pound away at a shaky Bruin defense. I hope to see Erickson use some more play action as it will open our offense a little more (even though our line isn't giving Rudy much time). Final score of ASU 38-21

FYI - Nick Grigsby will most likely be 1st Team on the freshman all-conference team. He's a pretty talented back, but very inexperienced. Still tries to hit the home run all the time like most young backs are prone to doing but has good vision and speed and makes guys miss. Him and Bass will be a nice tandem going forward for the 'Cats if Bass qualifies.

Let me start by saying Ryan Bass is a great prospect and I was excited that he was highly considering coming to ASU. However, his academic troubles are well documented and it had ASU fans very worried that he may not get in. His GPA is below a 2.0 and he his SAT scores are still way off.

I also question his commitiment to anyone. He reminds me of the juco safety who commited to us last year before he rescinded and went to CAL then rescinded and went to WSU. Bass doesn't seem to have anyone looking out for him so his loyalty may waiver whichever direction the wind is blowing.

Bass is a very good pickup for uofa and if ends up there then I'll stand corrected. His grades may put him in juco for a couple years and I have a feeling that once he takes other visits he will decommit. I would say the same thing if he was committed here. All a non-uofa coach has to do is bring up the spread offense and his limited touches and the kid will listen

Well, I predict another double digit deficit by 5 min remaining in the 1st quarter. Though the Devils won't play great, it will be enough.

Devils 24
Bruins 20
