I don't think a bigger trade is coming because of this. Personally I think this means Brandon Allen is our starting left fielder. If we can get decent production out of Miranda then we could use the money saved from LaRoche and use it on either a starting pitcher or more relief pitcher. Miranda has decent stats in the minors though who knows how he will perform.

Should we be excited?

I'd like to know if the organization feels that Brandon Allen can be a better hitter with more AB's? Also is Miranda good enough to be the everyday 1st baseman? With Miranda, Allen, Montero, Drew and Kelly Johnson that would be 5 lefties in the starting lineup.

From what I hear LA may not tender James Loney and may look to trade him, if so we need to be all over that. This Miranda guy is not going to replace LaRoche.

Don't want to trade for Loney. He will get way too much money thru arbitration. I would definitely go after him if he gets non-tendered though.

Loney won't replace LaRoche either, as far as power at the corner.

James Loney and Andre Ethier are my favorite Dodgers. Loney would be a kind of Mark Grace type hitter, with his 10 HR and 88 RBI's last season. And he is a dependable fielder.

I am concerned about his career-high 95 strikeouts last year. For a D'backs team with six players over 100 K's in a hitters' home park, 95 is too close, although a distance from LaRoche's second high on the team of 172.
