Just please don't promote the assistant hitting coach to Magadan's position...

There is an interview on the athletic website. I don’t know what he says because I don’t pay for news.
But if you are interested the article is up

I agree. The job needs fresh thinking. Someone who will subscribe to the philosophy that Bob Brenly has been advocating on TV -- take what the opposition gives you. Use some strategy.

Dave Magadan is a nice guy, but we have too many nice guys running the show. I know I've posted this before, but it is relevant now with the Hitting Coach position open.

Every year Magadan was the hitting coach, we hit worse the following season.

That's enough for me. One year might be transition, two years... could be a fluke or talent fluctuation. Three years, you've got a defined pattern.

Adios Dave, better luck next stop.

“My job was to get guys to swing the bat well and score runs,” he said. “We didn’t do that. It’s my job to make guys better and I feel like we did make some guys better, but some other guys didn’t meet the expectations of what we felt they were capable of doing, and, in the end, that’s what we’re all judged on.”

The Diamondbacks ranked in the bottom half of National League teams in several offensive categories, including runs per game (10th), average (tied for 12th), on-base (12th) and slugging (10th) and had the fourth-most strikeouts. Magadan, who spent three years as the team’s hitting coach, also oversaw a team that enjoyed a solid offensive season last year.
