They don't know what they are talking about. The Diamondbacks are 90-70 and the Padres are 89-72. If the Diamondbacks lose their last two and the Padres win tomorrow they will be tied and the Diamondbacks own the tie breaker and the NL West title. If they win the Padres get the wildcard regardless. The only thing left up for grabs is the NL East title.

We havent won it yet..

Start of today the Padres were a game behind, their loss puts them a game and a half behind, if we lose tonight they're a game behind with one to play tomorrow.

If tomorrow we lose again and the Padres won, we'd be tied, since we own the tiebreaker we get the division.

Edit: Of course, the Dbacks don't have to worry about anything if they win tonight.

From the sticky at the top of the page. If San Diego wins tomorrow they are in the playoffs regardless of the East or what Colorado does. The Dbacks are definitely the NL West champs.

I guess we don't technically clinch the title on a tiebreaker until all the games have been played.

If we win tonight, we win the West outright and don't have to wait to be awarded the tiebreaker.

If we lose tonight, the Padres have to burn Peavy on 3 days rest tomorrow.

Hmmmm...

Sounds like a win-win for us. Rockies are playing for their lives.

This has to be a near record turn around from last year. 76-86 to first place in the NL West.

I don't think it's anywhere even close. A 14 game turnaround isn't all that impressive considering that we went from 64 wins in year 1 to 102 in year 2.
