How they could keep it secret, I do not know. (Night time?) But Fitz was here for the All Star game. Then went back to MN. (Twitter stalker.) About the same time his brother, the infamous Marcus "Throw The Ball, Old Man!" Fitzgerald was tweeting Kolb would have been signed had it not been for the lock out.

Yes. I need a hobby.

um... you know what, if fitz wants him and the staff wants him, as much as it'll hurt to lose DRC if that's what it takes, that's what it takes.

A source familiar with Allstate Home Owners Insurance reports Derek Anderson and Max Komar were working out in Anderson's backyard. The report was confirmed when the claims adjuster investigated and saw all the broken windows in the nearby neighbor's homes. Reportedly, when the wind kicked up, it caused some 2nd story windows to be busted out.

Mike Jurecki just reported that Kolb was spotted lifting with Adub.

Wilson apparently said afterward, "Just getting this boy's mind right."

man, i know I'm just buying into the hype, but it would be great to have a QB that the team TEAM actually believed in and if Kolb is that guy, then let's get it on and see what Wiz has really got to show us.

If anything, NO ONE can say that we all won't be super-jacked/curious to see how Kolb actually plays, as opposed to last off-season when most of us were either hoping against hope that Anderson wouldn't be the worst thing in the world or already KNEW that he was the worst thing in the world.

Basically... I think no matter which way you lean, I'd have to think have a young, somewhat touted young QB would at least give everyone a LITTLE hope going into the season, at the worst, no?

Not a super fan of the guy, in fact very lukewarm on him, although that Atlanta game was borderline genius last year. But I have slowly been coming around to what are thinking as well every since learning Fitz may have named Kolb as his #1 choice.

No one wants to bite the bullet but sometimes you just have to.

I think he has shown some potential, just not enough to justify a large contract. Why should he get anymore than Orton for example? Orton actually had a pretty good season last year.

It really comes to the fact that with Sam Bradford in our division and Aaron Rodgers, Josh Freeman, and Matt Ryan all ready to hit their primes we need a franchise-caliber QB in order to even have a chance to get into the playoffs. And I won't even mention guys like Drew Brees and Mike Vick who have a few years left of elite level play and other capable QB's like Jay Cutler and Eli Manning. Kolb might not be able to surpass their level of play but we sure as hell know that DRC ain't going to get us past them if we go to a retread or roll the dice wrong with a rookie.

All about QB in this league and if Whiz, Fitz, and co. think Kolb can be that guy. Screw it, let's give it a shot and if he sucks then we draft someone next year when there's three first round talents waiting in Luck, Barkley, and Landry Jones. If they are right we have a QB for the next decade.

I am no Kolb fan but if it is DRC for Kolb+Fitz resigns I would do this deal in a heartbeat. I think Kolb can be good but the costs seem to outweigh the gains.

“There are certain people, when they walk into a room, they could be the newest person there, but when they speak, they speak in a certain way and they come across with a certain air, and you are going to listen, even if they are the brand-new guy,” running back Jason Wright said. “Even if they are completely dead wrong in what they are saying, you still say afterward, ‘Hmm. What about that guy?’

“Whatever ‘it’ is, he’s got it. He’s probably like that in the rest of life too. I expect he’s been that way his whole life. That’s what guys are talking about. It’s more a personality trait than it is having really earned his stripes.”

“I told Max something during preseason … it’s the way he plays the game,” wide receiver Steve Breaston said. “He reminds me of a lot of other people who played the game. That’s one of the biggest things, how he carries out the game plan, how he goes to work, his professionalism. … That’s what you need. You need someone like Max to rally behind. Just his story alone, to be undrafted and get a win, what it boils down to is how the whole team played that day.”

“With Max, there’s no playing around,” Fitzgerald said.

Hall already seems to have developed chemistry with Fitzgerald, who said he already has spent time with Hall away from football.

“Long before he was close to being a starter, we were kickin’ it,” Fitzgerald said. “He’s got a great future. I love playing with him.”

If his teammates agree, then it doesn’t matter much why Hall creates such a vibe, only that he does.

“For most of the guys on the team who have had success, these first couple games, we realized something was missing,” Brown said. “He comes in there and sort of shows us.

“Maybe we weren’t playing with as much heart as we used to, or paying attention to little things. Maybe that’s what it was. We just needed to see it again.”

If we trade for Kolb and sign him to a $60 million contract, there's no Luck, Barkley, or Landry Jones. There's just Whis getting fired midway through 2012 and starting all over again in 2013.

At least Kolb really lit up the 22nd-ranked defense in the NFL. So there'll be that to build on.

Philadelphia seemed headed for an even bigger first-half lead after Tony Gonzalez had a pass tip off his hands to cornerback Asante Samuel. The Eagles once more efficiently moved into Falcons territory and Kolb had Brent Celek wide open down the middle. But the pass was short and tipped twice before William Moore picked it off and made a weaving 34-yard return. Kolb used a horse-collar tackle to bring down Moore, adding 15 yards to the play, setting up Atlanta (4-2) at the Eagles 31.

LOL. Give up whatever it takes!

yup.

honestly, the worst thing in the world that can happen to this team in a macro sense is losing Fitz next year. seriously, if in the course of three years we were to lose pretty much EVERY SINGLE STAR PLAYER from the Super Bowl run (save an old AW and Dockett), INCLUDING the face of franchise and one of the faces of the entire league in Fitz, they may as well nuke the stadium and call it a life on the Cards.

First AJ Feeley now Max Hall? And we're giving him $60 million?

Kolb was a former 2nd round draft pick, not some UDFA or late round flyer of a QB. K9 is lost in devil's advocate land somewhere again trying to get a rise out of people with irrelevant information.

This too. if Kolb leads to Fitzgerald resigning then screw if Kolb is good or not. like Mao said in anier thread this isn't the NBA. We can reasonably recover from trading DRC and giving the kid a reasonable deal.

We would never recover from losing Fitzgerald.

I wish some of these arm chair GMs would quit trying to stake their claim as Mel Kiper Jr and just admit they are not sure how Kolb will turn out and are excited to watch it play out.

I have to agree because Larry is probably the most famous non-QB ever to put on a Cardinal uniform. But on the other hand what if we keep Fitzgerald and continue to go 5-11 because we STILL can't play defense?

So lets look at what we have if DRC leaves: A secondary of PP7,Toler,AW, and Rhodes with Rashad Johnson, Mike Adams and AJ Jefferson, who I believe the coaches really like, as backups.

If Schofield becomes the pass rush threat I think he will and Peterson is the CB everyone thinks he is, and Horton proves to be a solid DC, we could win with that Defensive Backfield. I know that is a lot of "ifs" but doesn't just about every team have those?

What do we have DRC for: two more seasons? Are we going to re-sign him? I'm cynical as a Cards fan but I think probably not. Someone will overpay like the Giants did with Rolle, and if the staff is still in place and still tired of his lack of discipline (who knows if that's real or just sandbagging), then I don't see them matching. Or maybe they franchise him.

But compared to that, the long Kolb contract people are so worried about--for a guy who wants to be here and might convince Fitz to stick around--doesn't look so bad. I'm not saying there's no risk, but with PP7 here I think DRC is a piece you can move.
