The Mike Woodson era is officially over in Bloomington.

Indiana basketball, one of men's college basketball's most storied programs, learned on Sunday during the men's NCAA Tournament Selection Sunday bracket reveal show that it won't be going dancing.

The Hoosiers miss out on March Madness for the second consecutive season, and seventh time in the last nine years.

Indiana appeared to be a long shot to make the NCAA Tournament about a month ago, but with the Hoosiers' late season push — which included wins over Michigan State, Purdue and Ohio State — Woodson's squad made a case to be included in the field of 68.

No, Indiana did not make the 2025 March Madness Tournament.

Instead, the Hoosiers learned that they were the second team out of making the NCAA Tournament. By not hearing its name called on Selection Sunday, the Hoosiers have now missed out on the Big Dance for the second consecutive season.

The Hoosiers were one of several teams that found themselves on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament heading into Selection Sunday following their loss to Oregon in the Big Ten tournament.

"Indiana is the one that sticks out to me. They had a win at Michigan State, (win) home against Purdue and 4-13 Quad 1 (record), more (Quad 1 wins) than North Carolina," Seth Davis said on CBS's Selection Sunday show. "North Carolina also had a Quad 3 loss at home to Stanford. Indiana did not have any losses outside of Quad 1."

To expound on Davis' comments, Indiana had three more Quad 1 wins — a significant analytic piece of information used by the NCAA selection committee — than UNC. The Tar Heels went 1-12 against Quad 1 teams this season, compared to the Hoosiers' 4-13 mark. Indiana, however, had a lower NET ranking than UNC.

Bubba Cunningham, the chair of the NCAA Tournament selection committee, said on CBS that Indiana was "close" to making the field of 68.

"Indiana was close. Ohio State was close. Boise (State) was close. And we had a lot of conversations about those teams as well," Cunningham said. "But as I said at the onset here is that's the hardest part of being on the committee is having to draw that line. But with only one real upset this year, there were an awful lot of teams on the bubble that got in. And last year, as you guys all know that we had five and so we couldn't go very deep into that pool."
