I had the game on mute yesterday and I saw them talking about that smudge on his hand. I didn't notice the umpires checking the balls for any doctoring

I don't buy it because they made him wash his hand in like the 2nd inning and he still kicked their ass

I don't know if you heard about this subject with Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick today but Olbermann brought up a good point. He claimed it was something other than pine tar that medical people used to use to make bandages stick better and that once it is washed off it still keeps its sticky consistency. Plus there are reports that there was something on the bill of his hat after he washed his hands. I find it all very interesting especially the fact that Rogers wouldn't take off his glove when he came out of the game.

wouldn't there be some sort of residue on the balls?

The only way to know that is if the Cardinals kept any of the balls. If the ball was put into play i doubt there wouldn't be any chance of being able to tell and if Ivan Rodriguez didn't give the Ump any of the breaking balls that he threw then they wouldn't have noticed it.

That was weird, he was high fiving guys with his glove and went right down into the locker room. Most guys just sit on the bench with the rest of the team

Yup he cheated...

I think Tony's friendship with Leyland got in the way of his better judgement on this one...

If he really requests it, then Rogers is rightfully ejected and then Leyland starts checking all of the Cards pitchers, and next thing you know the two buddies are no longer sending eachother Xmas cards...

I say screw the friendship! This is the World Series Larussa and the Cards have not won it for 24 freaking years!!!! Darn It!

No doubt about it, if this is a team managed by ANYONE BUT his good buddy Leyland, he's having Rogers thrown from the ballpark and he's raising all sorts of hell.

What a joke Rogers is. The guy has a career revival, FINALLY seems to have shaken the crap that happened in Texas with the cameraguy and was regarded as one of the keys to Detroit's return to the World Series, then this.

There is no way that's dirt. And the fact that the smudge was there multiple times is VERY suspicious.

The guy had been worse than a BP pitcher vs. the Yankees in his career before his gem in the ALDS came "out of nowhere."

Maybe it came out of a can....

The photos make it very suspicious. Something is there.

On the other hand, LaRussa has now said that the batters didn't see anything unusual with the pitches. A good hitter can usually tell when a ball is moving in directions that is not normal. Whatever it is, I don't necessarily know if it impacted the game. We'll never know, unless he writes a book some day.

Who knows, even if it was designed to give him an "egde" he still owned hitters without that dirt/pine tar or whatever it was on his hand.

Who cares? He didn't actually get caught so as far as I am concerned it is a dead issue. What he should do though is come out for his next start with actual dirt there and really freak everybody out.

LaRussa is an ass and like Ryan, anything that pisses LaRussa off makes me happy.

Why can batters load up on pine tar, but not pitchers? Seems fair if both can.

Hell yeah, Kenny Rogers cheated!! He's had all kinds of cosmetic surgery and stomach tucks. He doesn't look anything like the old man.

Batters don't touch the ball. And they can't put pine tar on the part of the bat that's supposed to touch the ball. Just ask George Brett. :D

Scott, isn't it scary that Tanya Tucker and Kenny Rogers look alike now?
