Did you know that 10 times in a ten year stretch a Cardinal game ended in a tie? During that stretch they went 8 straight years with 1 game each year ending in a tied score.

Keep the list going by contributing a little known or forgotten historical fact about our Cards.

I got one, the bird itself. The Cardinal can only be found in one state past the Midwest towards the Pacific ocean and that is Arizona... this is a strange but true fact that many do not know, if anything it makes sense then that they are still called the Cardinals :)

Even better, the first reported sighting of a Northern cardinal in the state of Arizona was 1988.

Kid you not...read that in a book at the Grand Canyon.

Four of those ties that jump out in my mind;
A 6-6 tie with the Eagles in 1972 when Jim Bakken shanked a 11 yarder or something similarly short(goal posts were on the goal line then).
A tie with the Broncos.
The Monday Night Neil O'Donahue fiasco vs the Giants.
A 10-10 tie with the Eagles a couple years later.

I have seen several over the years out in the desert in eastern Pinal County when I have been out hunting quail. They are a sight to see against the desert brush.

There are lots of them in the Roosevelt Lake basin----------even had one visiting our back yard several years ago here in Mesa------

Did you know that the Cardinals were going to have a mascot, person dressed up as a Cardinal, who flew around the stadium before and after each game and every time we scored. But after having 100s of people try out for the position, they realized that with that heavy cardinal costume on none of them could fly.

Give 'em a jet pack. It would be awesome to have someone fly out of stadium every time we scored.

The Morgan Athletic Club was founded in 1898 in Chicago. The Morgan Athletic Club then became the Racine Normals. The owner bought used football jerseys from the University of Chicago which were supposed to be maroon in color, but they were old and faded and looked more "Cardinal" red so the owner, Chris O'Brien, changed the name of the team to the Racine Cardinals, which eventually became our beloved Arizona Cardinals, the oldest professional football team in existence.

Little known personal fact.

Neil Lomax threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Roy Green with 3 seconds remaining Sunday to cap a 17-point fourth quarter and give the Cardinals a 24-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Nov 7, 1988

I was at this game, completely drunk/stoned and throwing up all over in the stands. I have not had a drink/drug since that day, 26+ years.

I was there as well but I wasn't drunk or throwing up...stoned???? Well I probably was stoned. It was just a few years later when my kids were born that that all ended as well.

Did you know the Cardinal board was near the bottom of posts with a poll numbers for most of their existence. Not until I, the famous SissyBoyFloyd, joined the site did we move up into the top 10 franchises with the most polls on their forum. :raccoon:

I've been to 112 consecutive home Cardinals games.

A streak that marriage is likely to break at some point in the next couple of years. That will be the worst day of my life, when I have to miss a game.

That is maybe the main reason I have never been married. I never could see giving up my freedom to go where I want, do what I want, come home when I want, etc. Plus the idea of having to support kids for half my live who I probably would hardly ever see after she took everything from me in our divorce a few years later. No I just wasn't going to be played a sucker by some woman who was dying to marry the first chump she fell in lover with, wanted to put the screws to, and connived into marrying her.
