.... no plan for a future QB. Isn't it good to just play it by ear with your NFL team?
Yup. Either pay big in FA or pay big to move up in the draft if they're too low. Gonna be costly either way, but it's necessary now.I'm sure Keim knows he needs to find a QB or he will soon be out of a job.
I just re-read it, they are predicting we will sign Bortles this offseason and he ends up beating out first round pick Lamar Jackson in the long run. FMLIt said blaine Gabbert beats out Lamar Jackson. Saying we draft Lamar Jackson
It also says for 2020 season, which would mean Jackson was sucky going into his 3rd season...hahaha...I thought that article was hot garbage. It said blaine Gabbert beats out Lamar Jackson. Saying we draft Lamar Jackson

Houston has a garbage OL & Watson was setting records before the ACL tear. The OL can’t be awful, but it doesn’t have to be great to start either. The underlying factor of a successful QB is having an OL to protect him. If we draft Jackson or another QB we had better get the OL solidified in terms of being able to pass protect. DAL did just that before drafting Prescott and that is why he has looked so good. You assemble a garbage OL and no QB despite how talented is going to succeed, especially a rookie QB. If ARZ drafts a QB in round 1 they had better use FA to get the protection he needs or if they spend big money on Cousins, they better draft NFL ready OL to protect him next year.
I agree for the most part. Ideally, we draft a top 10 QB and then he sits behind Palmer next season...or comes in if Carson gets hurt. Taking time to learn the pro game, develop, and learn from a pro bowl type QB can benefit any young QB coming in to the nfl.Keim has a plan. Every GM not named Graves has a plan. I'm in the minority because I don't blame Keim for not drafting a QBOF early in the draft. I would have been ok with it this past year but prior to this year, Palmer was going to be THE guy. No rookie was going to beat him out of a job for the foreseeable future. With the new rules, if Keim had drafted a 1st round QB 2-3-4 years ago, it would have been a wasted pick because they likely would have gone their entire rookie contract with little to no PT and then probably leave and you get nothing out of a #1 draft pick.
Do you plan a draft with the likelihood of your QB getting injured? No, not in round 1 anyway. People mention Garropollo. But, if Brady never got suspended, nobody would have a clue as to what kind of player he'd be and we still really don't. Plus he was a late 2nd round pick.
I'm all for drafting a QB this year and it should be their pick if one is available. But, you don't see teams with their QB in place for the next 2-5 years taking a QB in round 1.
