Just curious if anyone has any information on products like this one:

I am looking for something that I can use when I read documents written in Russian. I want to be able to scan unfamiliar words quickly and have them translated. I would rather not have to hook the scanner up to a pc, but would do it if I had to.

They seem pretty cool, but I haven't seen one in action yet.

I saw something like this on my airplane flight I happen to still have the magazine in my laptop bag. Here is the link for the one that does English to Russian.

Quicktionary II Elite Russian
The ideal mobile language translation tool for travelers, professionals working in a foreign language, and students of English as a Second Language. Combines language translation with English definitions

Scan a single word or full line of text and see the English definition or word-by-word translation instantly.
<LI>Hear a single word or full line of text read aloud, in English, with built-in speaker or plug-in headphones.
Product comes complete with the translation dictionary of your choice and the American Heritage Concise Dictionary.

I'd recommend one of these (and I'll give a no-prize to anyone who can correctly identify it):

They have others as well.

Thanks.

It looks like the Quicktionary doesn't have a bidirectional English/Russian one, though. (Although it's hard to tell...the description is kind of funky.)

It's such a cool idea. I am anxious to get one.

The 24th century version of that is so much smaller. That looks like a holorecorder.
