Does anyone know if you *have* to have HD to get the the SuperFan package? I want to get it simply for the ability to watch games online (even with non-HD games on my TV).

Thanks!

I pretty sure you can get Superfan without having to have a HD Tv. I guess a quick call would answer your question, just to make sure. In fact I know you can, but I would check to see if you can view the games on your TV with standard definition.

I think it is optional. But I recommend you call them and haggle... tell them you want Superfan for free.

You can get superfan for free too. I called customer service and told them how I lost my job last year and could they hook me up?

Superfan for free and $10 a month off regular bill for 6 months.

You do not need HD to have superfan. I got it for free 2 years ago for shortcuts. Didn't have HD at the time.

Also, You should be able to get it for free if you try hard enough.

Or you can tell them you want to cancel your service like I did. They set me up with $20 off for six months, free Superfan and a bunch of movie channels free for three months.

I tried to canceling thing last year and got some nice upgrades. But I had to commit to something like two more years of service. Do they keep track of that? Or can you call again and say you want to cancel?

If you are under contract, you are obligated to keep your service, but not ST.

You can cancel ST. Call em and say you can't afford ST and see what they offer you.

Direct TV def keeps track of your service agreement, and the only time they will negotiate with you is when you are nearing your expiration, otherwise you have to pay $20 per month if you cancel, for the remainder of your agreement. Channels and programs, however, you can usually cancel after the 1st month with no fee, and just so you know, if you have NFL Sunday Ticket, it will automatically restart the next year, which Direct TV likes to keep quiet lol.

Semi OT Announcement

If you live in the NYC viewing area and can't or aren't allowed to receive satellite transmission, the NFL will provide all Sunday Ticket programs (other than those televised locally) on your PC via broadband at a cost of roughly $300 - 350.

I'm not sure if this is under the DirecTV banner or whether it's an NFL add-on.

However - If you are able to put up a dish and receive DirecTV via satellite - you're not eligible for the broadband deal.
