Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth). But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.

This was a major disappointment. Perhaps it was neat to see in the theater, but it moved way too fast and lacked the soul of the original. You didn't really see Scrooge transform. It wasn't even really a kids movie because it was so dark.

The opening scene where his partner is laying dead in a coffin with the coins on his eyes to pay the ferryman! That's absolutely the kind of stuff that children's nightmares are made of.

It was just OK. My 8 year old daughter liked it. I still prefer "Scrooged" by a mile.

My favorite Christmas Carol was the one with Patrick Stewart. It's nearly word for word from the original Dicken's novel. That said, I saw this one in the theater in 3D and it was a waste of money to see in the theater.

My kids like the movie and the 3D is pretty good. Bought this on 3D Blu Ray for our collection. Not the best version of this movie by any stretch. However, it entertained the family and I found the 3D version on sale for $17.99.
