Anyone have any thoughts on document scanners.

We will finally be converting all our paper files to electronic format and in addition will need to scan several new documents every day as they are received from our clients.

Some of the docs we need to scan will be 15-20 pages most will be a 1-4 pages. We need to be able to email these files to the companies we represent.

We also want to create a database of unique contract forms that we can fill out in Microsoft Word or wherever and print for "hard" signatures.

We use a Konica Bizhub... Scans all of our docs directly to the network or to as many e-mails as you want. We also use it for network printing and it is our primary copier. Ours is b/w only but they did offer us a color option that we passed on.

Staples, sorts, e-mails, scans and faxes (we dont uise the faxing though).

I guess it really is going to depend on your price range... I thought it was more of a heavy load request.. That MF4150 is cheap - $249.00 but looks like it is fairly slow. The konica we have was about $11,000.00 but it will scan a ton of info, correct orientation and convert it to whatever format you want (PDF, TIFF, JPG, etc) pretty much instantly.

It was expensive but it works so well it more than was worth it. We can do our product catalog to every customer's email in about 7 minutes (not to mention all of the other features we use).

I've never been able to get the scanner function to work on any of the "All-in One" units I've worked with.

I must be doing something wrong.

We use Savin machines at the office, Steve. Pretty good functionality and speed. It allows email scanned forms and everything you are going to need. Not sure of the cost involved with those machines but I can ask Mr. Lapre, the boss man.

I also use Omniform to issue and change bond forms along with PDF creator since most of our clients don't have Omniform. Omniform is great for any document manipulation. I don't know if you guys issue bonds out of your office or not but it really helps us out. PDF creator saves me a ton of time from having to get up and go to the scanner to create a PDF file.

Give me a call if you need more info. Hope all is well and I hope to see ya out here soon when you come out for some games. Hope business is good. We moved offices now and I am lovin it. Take it easy.

We issue almost all bonds in our office and want to create a database of the various bond forms as well as convert all our bond files to pdf so that we can send information to the Sureties electronically.

I'm going to check out the Omniform. Thanks for the info and don't forget we've got to get together for a game this season.

Our last one was a Savin... Worked great for all of our needs but it had a ton of downtime... Broke often. The Konica is too new to compare yet, we are still on the first year, but so far so good.

yes, definitely check out Omniform. PDF Creator is nice too because you can just click print and choose PDF creator as the printer and in converts any document to a .pdf file and you can save it and email. All never having to get up from your desk.

Definitely have to get together for a game. I am going to try to get to a few this year.
