Does Johnson really hate Schilling?

I just read this on ESPN...
When asked about the unsuccessful phone calls Schilling made to Johnson's cell phone this week, the left-hander dryly said, "there's a reason why I changed my number."

Was he serious? I think we could get much more out of the Red Sox trade compared to the Yanks...

They played an awful lot of golf together last several years to have all that much dislike. I assume - but not being a golfer, maybe you normally play a couple times a week with people you detest.

This is also a slightly different version of the quote I initially saw, which was even more tinkered with when reported by an East Coast newspaper, which said it proved the rumor that RJ "despised" Schilling. RJ has an extremely deadpan humor which we have repeatedly seen misinterpretted locally as a concrete, serious statement.

I don't believe a word the media reports anymore. Seen comments from people I either knew personally, or where I actually heard the interview myself, substantially remodelled too many times. Ever since the Courts ruled that a reporter CAN 'create' a 'quote' that summarizes the point an interviewee was making (they think), the hacks have lost any semblence of ethics.

They both have d**k head personalities and are on oposite ends of the spectrum from each other. With that in mind I think they have a civil relationship towards each other.

I guess I see how you fit into this discussion then... since you have the same type of personality! :D

Before Curt arrived in Phoenix (on the D'backs, not Shadow Mountain H.S. :D ) Randy was famous for his reactions when pissed off at the home plate umpire.

For the rest of the game, he would not be the same Randy Johnson.

When Curt38 became his twin, Randy lightened up. You could see the change when he wasn't getting his bread-and-butter call, on the inside corner against RH hitters.

Whatever did or didn't go on between them behind the scenes, Curt was a positive influence on RJ and his great Cy Young success.

It also took a bunch of pressure off Randy.

Randy did not seem to revert with the departure of Curt. So I don't think he needs him nearby any more.

I wonder if he wants him nearby.

I honestly don't think he hates Schilling. In fact they often played golf together.

Maybe the reason that RJ changed his number was to avoid Curt trying to persuade him on how the Red Sox were the best team to come to every day until he was traded. I don't know about you but that would get on my nerves after a while

Sounds like he made a joke to me.

I thought so too but the way espn said here's another example of RJ not liking Curt, I was starting to wonder...

Well if Johnson was really truthful about helping us I think the Red Sox trade would be much better since we could get the Cubs prospects in the trade that has been mentioned. I'd also rather have the Red Sox with the World Series rather than the Yankees...Although it would be nice to be the only team to win the World Series with Randy and Curt....
