The Miami Dolphins agreed to terms with punter Ryan Stonehouse, a league source confirmed Sunday.

Stonehouse, 25, was an All-Pro with the Tennessee Titans in 2022.

Stonehouse has averaged 52.2 yards per punt over three seasons, which is excellent.

By comparison, Dolphins punter Jake Bailey has averaged 46.1 over six seasons.

Ryan Stonehouse to Dolphins: What we know

Stonehouse is a native Californian and played at Colorado State.

At Tennessee, Stonehouse was coached by new Dolphins special teams coach Craig Aukerman.

Nick Suss of The Tennessean described Stonehouse as “one of the biggest-legged punters in NFL history.”

Suss added of Stonehouse’s 2024 season: “His 38.3 net yards per punt was worst in the NFL among punters who played full seasons, though those numbers are skewed by the Titans having the worst coverage unit in the league and allowing multiple punts to be blocked.”

How does Ryan Stonehouse fit with Dolphins?

The Dolphins have needed to bring in a punter who can at least compete with Bailey for the position.

Aukerman’s familiarity with Stonehouse is obviously a benefit here.

Miami is clustered with many other AFC teams in what figures to be a tight playoffs race in 2025.

The Dolphins need any small edge they can find. Perhaps Stonehouse’s leg strength can be an advantage.
