The Miami Dolphins are re-signing offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Eichenberg, 27, was picked by the Dolphins in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft and has played all five positions along the offensive line in his first four seasons with the team. In 2024, he was Miami's starter at right guard for the first 14 games of the year before rotating with Isaiah Wynn in the last three games.
While the versatile lineman may be back for a fifth season in Miami, it's unlikely that the Dolphins view him as a starter. The biggest contract dished out by the team in free agency so far was a three-year, $24 million deal to sign veteran guard James Daniels and the team also signed former Bears lineman Larry Borom.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier vowed after the 2024 season that investments in the offensive line were on the way because the team is "older there now." With 11 picks in the 2025 NFL draft, including the No. 13 overall selection in the first round, it'd be a surprise if Miami didn't continue to add young lineman to compete for spots.
Eichenberg received a career-best 53.1 grade from PFF in 2024 and was credited with allowing a team-high 29 quarterback pressures. Terms of his new contract with the Dolphins haven't yet been reported.
