He's a decent backup that has good leadership ability. He's also brings a wealth of knowledge of inside information from our team. I expect one of the NFC West teams to go after Shaun Hill very heavily. Maybe St. Louis also, he's from the area.

Hell, why stop there? Is J.T. O'Sullivan available?

Better than Derek Anderson.

Lets have some gonads and draft a college QB.

Possibly. I believe we are looking at Hank Hill first though.

You don't like winning?
Shaun Hill is a winner!
If he's such a winner, why is he available? Why isn't he still the 49ers' starter?

It's not like they've got a top QB ahead of him on the roster, they've got Alex Smith and David Carr. Not exactly Montana & Young...

Cause he has a noodle arm.

I actually wouldn't mind Shaun Hill and was thinking this when I saw Carr was signed. But don't come on here 49er fans acting like he is anything but a marginal backup QB. If you can't be head and shoulders better then Alex freaking Smith, there really is no amount of circumstance that justifies that fact.

Maybe playing for an actual NFL coach and with legit NFL offensive personnel might do wonders for him, who knows?

I didn't say we had one. But I would take Leinart over Smith, Carr, and Hill anyday of the week, and twice on Sunday.

But that's why they play the games....we shall see!

You know you have Matt Leinart right? The guy who is in the same tier as Brady Quinn and Trent Edwards.

Boy do I disagree with this. Ideally for me we sign Anderson and draft a 3rd or 4th rd QB and have a rotation like this...

Leinart
Anderson
3rd round Rookie QB

One of those guys is going to hit and be a Top 15 QB with this scheme and personnel

I could live with S. Hill as a backup; there are plenty worse options. At least he has the ability to win some games...

The last guy I want on the roster is the extremely inaccurate Derek Anderson.

I would not mind having Hill on the roster as a backup actually. Our offensive strategy was dink and dunk this year.

You know SF's front office was ready to jump out of windows when Leinart didn't declare and then made the boneheaded decision to not go with Rodgers back in 2005, right?

We might not know the full runway on Leinart just yet, but Smith couldn't beat out Hill for 2 years and then Hill was so craptastic last year, Singletary was forced to go back to his #1 bustola. Leinart played behind a potential first ballot HOF'er.

You might get some preseason love this year (what is that 3 years running your supposed to make a move?) but deep down you and I both know you don't have the QB play needed to be sure about that. Your just as worried as us about whats going to happen, and likely the team with the best play under center is going to be the winner for the division.

If you think you can say that's going to be you guys definitively, you have another thing coming.

Really? What hall of famer have they've been sitting behind for the past two seasons? Oh, that is right...

First of all, what you said was irrelevant because this isn't 2005 anymore. Second of all, Smith broke his shoulder twice thanks to clueless Nolan. Lastly, when Smith actually had some weapons he did awesome.

All I am saying is, RIGHT NOW, Leinart is in the same tier as Quinn and Edwards, nobody is worry about him.

I'm more worried about the Seahawks this year than the 49ers. With Pete Carroll on board and guys like Marshall and Heath Bell visiting them, they could be pretty decent this year.

With all of the Leinart vs Smith/Carr discussion we've been having, I will concede that Matt Hasselbeck is the best QB left in the division, when healthy. At least he's proven something...

You guys sure seem to know alot about good QB play for a team that hasn't seen .500 for 8 or so years.

You wish you had our last two years and there is no certainty you will be anything other then 2nd or 3rd next year again.

And I bet when its all said and done, we have the better numbers under center.

Going with Alex freaking Smith will cost Singletary his job, mark my words. That and the misguided weight of expectations for the worlds greatest 8-8 team.

F-ing Joke you guys are. Why don't you start talking 1980's smack now and talk about the good ol' times? Because there are 10 year old kids in San Francisco who don't know a world other then the Arizona Cardinals as the nationally relevant NFC West team.

Really? Who was the source for this wild rumor Randy Cross? :biglaugh:
Just like the 49ers made a mistake for beating the texans in the Reggie Bowl?

Seahawks are trash, so is Pete Carroll. Paul Allen is going to run that entire team into the ground much like Dan Snyder with the Redskins.

I've seen two hall fame QB's play.

No I don't. Your best regular winning season couldn't top our 2001 record season.

Nothing is certain.

With Matt Leinart as your QB....most def I will take that bet!
