See article dated from Paul Coro dated 10-19-10. It seems Dampier may still be an option.

Dowdell and Jones were cut after the Suns' 92-87 win Tuesday against Golden State, meaning that rookies Matt Janning and Garret Siler probably have regular-season roster spots. Erick Dampier could still choose to sign with Phoenix, threatening Siler's spot, although the Suns could technically keep the 14 they have and still add Dampier to be at the maximum 15 players.

I am kind of glad they were cut, just because the guys left I think have potential to be good players. However, I would like to see Dampier, even though I think he's washed up, just so we could go twin towers against the Lakers with Dampier and Lopez matching up with the Lakers bigs.

I was a bit surprised about Siler over Jones. I'm concerned whether Siler can keep up with a Suns pace (my concern with Dampier as well), but I get the impression Siler has more "upside". Of course, he may be a latter day Oliver Miller.

Janning over Dowdell seems like a slam dunk. Dowdell hasn't impressed and Janning has. I guess that Janning and Siler will go D-League.

Are you saying that as a bad thing? I'd love another chance with an Oliver Miller type. I'd do everything I could to keep him away from the foods that brought him down but even if that failed we'd at least have a year or two of a pretty serviceable big guy. I like Siler but I don't think he has quite the upside that Oliver had.

I like a project center like Siler to develop. I'd like to keep him even if the Suns sign Dampier. My hope is the Suns carry a 15 man roster. I'm a fan of Janning but if I had to choose between Janning and Siler, I would keep Siler. The Suns need size. I hope the Suns keep both Siler and Janning.

I'd like Dampier.....but going back to the Oliver Miller era, maybe a bit before, we had another guy that had the potential to be a Super Star but got caught up on drugs......Richard Dumas!!!! The boy was bad. I'd love to get another Richard Dumas type 2/3

Same era, if either of them could be considered to have an era. I think they were one year apart out of college. Lots of talent, both of them, but neither one could escape their habit (drugs and food).
