This, for the most part, was pretty cool. Two scenes I really didn't like, but even the second one had a redeeming quality--Charles Dance.

I just watched this on HBO. This was okay. I would probably watch a sequel on HBO/Netflix/Amazon Prime.

I loved this one...found it very entertaining and well written. A sequel would be cool........would also be cool if they spun it so the curse dropped to the son as well,..and he was called Van Helsing

It was OK. Had huge potential but relied more on spectacle verses coherent story telling. Too bad. Could have been a cool franchise.

This is close to how I felt. I think I probably liked it just a little more than you but was hoping for more.

Technically, it is part of a franchise--it is the first film in the new "rebooted" Universal monster series. The Mummy with Tom Cruise is the next one.

Well it's part of the family of monster films. However, I was referring to a Dracula franchise which I am sure they were hoping this turned into.

Rumor is they are not just a "family" of films, there apparently will be links between them to show they are in the same universe. My guess is that since this movie didn't do so well (I was bored by it), he will return, but in a Justice League-sort of movie with all the monsters together.

That would be interesting. I heard they were in the same family but didn't know they would crossover. That might be kind of cool. Just hope the movies get better scripts.
