21st Round

Chad Clark

RHP, Azusa Pacific

Bio Notes: At a loose and lanky 6'6 and 215, Clark throws a fastball in the 90-92 range and has a breaking pitch that could make its way to above average caliber. He was a 22nd round pick of Milwaukee in 1999 out of high school and was drafted as a college junior in 2002 but did not sign. Spent his first three seasons at Southern California and transferred to Azusa Pacific for his final season in 2003.

22nd Round

Walt Novosel

LHP, Ohio

23rd Round

Travis McAndrews

CF, USC

Bio Notes: Strongly built lefthanded hitter can play center field and is a sleeper senior draft for 2003

24th Round

Ryan Mottram

C, UMass-Lowell

25th Round

Kellen Raab

LHP, Wisc-Parkside

31st Round

Tim Vaillancourt RHP Delaware State

32nd Round

John McCreery 3B University of Pennsylvania

33rd Round
Brandon Belcher P 180 Ruston
Was thought to be a potential top-10 round pick earlier this year.

Bio Notes: It's a banner year in Louisiana and Belcher might be the top pitching prospect. He's a hard-throwing, multi-pitch lefty who could go very early in the 2003 Draft.

34th Round

Gabe Rio LHP Florida Southern

35th Round

Alexander Cremidan RHP University of California-San Diego

Next 5 picks

36 Derek Nippert P Ohio Valley Coll.

37 Ryan LaCross P 200 Lakewood Ranch HS

Bio Notes: LaCross is a long, lean 6-6 who throws in the mid-80s at a tough angle from the left side.

38 Bradley Dove LHP Spartanburg Methodist JC

39 Gabriel Melendez CF Missouri Baptist Coll.

40 Connor Rapkoch C Bellarmine Prep HS
Extremely lean receiver with a whip-like arm action

41 Kevin Stiehl LHP West Torrance HS, CA

42 Michael Guerrero OF Arizona State

43 Matt Mammen LHP St. Charles JC

44 Jake Coash P 220 College of the Canyons JC
6-5 lefty with a lot of upside.

Bio Notes: He's a big left-hander (6-5) with a fastball already in the mid-upper 80s and a big league change-up.

45 Joshua Terrell 1B Wallace St. JC

More on Chad Clark

From BaseballAmerica.com

Chad Clark Taken by Arizona
The long saga of Chad Clark and the draft may finally have ended, as the 6-foot-6 righthander was drafted in the 21st round by Arizona. Clark's high bonus demands and Southern California commitment scared teams off in the 1999 draft, and he fell to the 22nd round (Brewers). But Clark's USC career never took off; he went 5-4, 9.55 in three seasons, capped by a 0-2, 19.13 debacle last year. He transferred to Fresno State in the fall but left the Bulldogs for NAIA Azusa Pacific in January, going 2-4, 6.87. Clark, a hard thrower with a fastball clocked in the 90s, was drafted in the 17th round last year by the Cardinals and has always fought his control. This year was no different. He walked 40 and struck out 44 in 38 innings, giving up 26 hits

Last 5 picks

46 Lester Contreras SS Champagnat Catholic HS

47 Brody Taylor LHP Louisburg JC

48 Ben Colton P Reno HS

49 Juan Velazquez RHP Grossmont CC

50 Jeff Manship P 160 Ronald Reagan HS
He's headed to Stanford. Undersized righty is polished with the best HS curveball in the draft.

Bio Notes: Texan righty lacks mere size, but has one of best power arms in the country. He's consistently in the low-90s by report and his breaking ball might be the best in the nation this year.
