I know many use CBS Sports as their Draft ratings site.

The Fanspeak Draft simulator has added the CBS Sports Big board as an option for the simulator:

Overall it looks okay. IMO we should not draft a Rb in round one. That's where we need the guy that can get on the QB. Two slots for wide outs? We will wait and see but I think our team is going to pull some surprising things going on!

You want to draft Gurley in round one coming off a knee injury and Kikaha in round 2 with two torn ACLs on his record? Yikes

I takes what the simulator gives me.

Round 1 went HORRIBLE. Everyone was off the board, all the pass rushers, all the offensive linemen, all the linebackers, and all the cornerbacks. You cannot trade down, so I like Gurley over Gordon.

As for the 2nd round pick, he is the best pass rusher on the board, even though he has injury history.

Mine:

24: R1P24
C CAMERON ERVING
FLORIDA STATE

All the good pass rushers were gone already.

55: R2P23
DE/OLB DANIELLE HUNTER
LSU

Has all the physical tools to be a great 3-4 rush OLB but is raw. Needs good coaching.

86: R3P22
CB ALEX CARTER
STANFORD

"Long" CB Arians was looking for. It was a tough choice here as there were a ton of RBs to choose from, ultimately I decided to wait a round and see if any of them slid which brings us to...

123: R4P24
RB DAVID COBB
MINNESOTA

Power back for moving the chains with more than adequate speed as well.

159: R5P23
WR DARREN WALLER
GEORGIA TECH

6'6'' 240 lb WR who ran a 4.45. Production was lacking but the physical attributes alone warrant the gamble at this point.

198: R6P22
DT DERRICK LOTT
CHATTANOOGA

6'4'' 314 lb DL. 30 reps on the bench press. Has good pass rushing technique as a 3-4 DE. Has the frame to become a NT if he can bulk up. Can also fill the role of DT in a 4 lineman set.

241: R7P24
WR ANTWAN GOODLEY
BAYLOR

Speed WR/Kick Returner type. Best player on the board at this point.

256: R7P39
TE GERALD CHRISTIAN
LOUISVILLE

Mr. Irrelevant. A blocking TE.

I'd take it, but Shaw didn't impress me much in the Sr. Bowl.

One of the more interesting players in the draft.

Reminds me of a player, that at worst, would be a Sam Acho type. Not a bad thing for a 6th round pick.

Particularly because we don't have Sam Acho anymore. So weird that we didn't bring him back on a minimum-salary deal.

Not a fan of this draft, I actually don't want us to draft another pothead, especially in rd1.

Drafted WR Smith for Mitch.

I pretty much took the top rated player when it was time for the Cards pick so ILB not be addressed until the 7th rd doesn't make me happy.

On my second try...

#24 - Owa Odighizuwa - OLB - UCLA
#55 - Paul Dawson - ILB - TCU
#86 - Jeremy Langford - RB - Michigan St.
#123 - Eric Rowe - CB - Utah

...and then I got bored.

This was WEIRD. Such an odd first draft.

First time:

1: R1P24
WR AMARI COOPER
ALABAMA
Had Gurley and Gordon both on the list, but no pass rushers and Erving just taken. No way I pass on this kid, even though we are pretty solid at WR.

2: R2P23
CB JALEN COLLINS
LSU

Just fill the backfield with LSU secondary players, I guess.
3: R3P22
RB DAVID COBB
MINNESOTA

Not as big as I like, but intrigued by his motor and ability to move the chains.

------

This draft was weird...all the pass rushers and dline that fit were taken, and had the option to grab a top five talent at a position we are already set at. Ugh.

-------

Draft number 2

24: R1P24
DT DANNY SHELTON
WASHINGTON

Top ten talent, defensive monster in the back half of the draft? Please and thank you.

55: R2P23
ILB BENARDRICK MCKINNEY
MISSISSIPPI STATE

Glad he was available this late and snapped him up.

86: R3P22
RB TEVIN COLEMAN
INDIANA

IMO, potentially the best back in the draft.

I loved this draft...the first one was just ridiculous.

Not a bad draft with what I had to pick from. Seem to get value in every round and address needs at the same time.

Agreed.

But in all fairness, many tout CBS Sports as one of the more accurate draft sites to be found.

I personally think it is more this year's draft class.

I read a quote on SI.com, where a "draft guru" made the statement that you have 9 elite players in the draft, and then from #10 to #50 it is "in the eye of the beholder".

I agree. This draft has a lot of "middle tier" type prospects.
