Bored after round 5. This draft could be very good if the later round guys (Golden and Montgomery) work out.

This was WEIRD. Such an odd first draft.

First time:

1: R1P24
WR AMARI COOPER
ALABAMA
Had Gurley and Gordon both on the list, but no pass rushers and Erving just taken. No way I pass on this kid, even though we are pretty solid at WR.

2: R2P23
CB JALEN COLLINS
LSU

Just fill the backfield with LSU secondary players, I guess.
3: R3P22
RB DAVID COBB
MINNESOTA

Not as big as I like, but intrigued by his motor and ability to move the chains.

------

This draft was weird...all the pass rushers and dline that fit were taken, and had the option to grab a top five talent at a position we are already set at. Ugh.

-------

Draft number 2

24: R1P24
DT DANNY SHELTON
WASHINGTON

Top ten talent, defensive monster in the back half of the draft? Please and thank you.

55: R2P23
ILB BENARDRICK MCKINNEY
MISSISSIPPI STATE

Glad he was available this late and snapped him up.

86: R3P22
RB TEVIN COLEMAN
INDIANA

IMO, potentially the best back in the draft.

I loved this draft...the first one was just ridiculous.

I'd be very happy with the first draft. Well done. Ok on the second.

some mock draft here are pretty weird
players with second round grade selected in 4th round
i dont know but some of this sites has crappy rankings
draftcountdown is one of the few with a criteria

It's not that far fetched. There's always a few guys who go a round or 2 later than their draft grades each year for reasons. For example, we got Dockett in the 3rd round when he was projected as high as 17th overall.

Using CBS:

24: R1P24
RB TODD GURLEY
GEORGIA - He's risky but he could be a steal here and would lock up the RB position for the next 4 years at a decent contract

55: R2P23
DE DANIELLE HUNTER
LSU - Definitely has athletic potential but did not have any numbers to back it up despite playing a lot of snaps at LSU. That said, the coaches are paid to coach these guys up and he has all of the physical requirements to be a good OLB

86: R3P22
C HRONISS GRASU
OREGON - Helps solidify O-Line and competes for starting position

123: R4P24
OLB LORENZO MAULDIN
LOUISVILLE - Another pass rusher to compete with the OLBers

159: R5P23
ILB TAIWAN JONES
MICHIGAN STATE - Big thumper to either back up Washington or line up next to Spoon on running downs.

198: R6P22
WR STEFON DIGGS
MARYLAND - Sounds like a decent receiver to take a chance on. He was highly recruited out of high school and had offers to Auburn, Florida and Ohio State but decided to stay near his home and went to Maryland

241: R7P24
QB SHANE CARDEN
EAST CAROLINA

256: R7P39
CB JUSTIN COLEMAN

Have no clue why most of our fans want us to pick a C or a OL in general so early, but alright.

Have no clue why most of our fans want us to pick a C or a OL in general so early, but alright.

It is a case of "Best Player Available" in my cases. A player like Cameron Erving, or Erek Flowers can play most positions on the offensive line, and Jonathan Cooper is a season away from solidifying bust status, and Bobby Massie is on the last year of his contract.

Thus I would rather see the Cardinals get a good offensive lineman that dropped in the draft then reach at pass rusher, or another position.

But, offensive line is far from my 1st choice at that spot.

From the NFL Draft Game:

Round 2 Pick 9 (STL): Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma (A)
Round 2 Pick 17 (K.C.): Benardrick McKinney, ILB, Mississippi State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 27 (DEN): Hau'oli Kikaha, OLB/DE, Washington (B+)
Round 2 Pick 31 (SEA): Josh Shaw, CB/FS, Southern California (B)
Round 3 Pick 31 (SEA): Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville (B+)
Round 6 Pick 22: Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State (A)
Round 7 Pick 24: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland (A)
Round 7 Pick 39 (COMP): Deon Simon, DT, Northwestern St. (B-)

I made a lot of moves to get those three second rounders and i think it was worth it. The site provided the grades. That site is actually addicting.

Now I'm just being silly and stockpiled late round picks and got stuck. it's interesting to see that the grades are not simply based on getting a player of a certain caliber at a certain time but also has whether that's a need as well. I took goodly in the other draft also in roughly the same spot and got an A for it whereas here I got a C-. I got 6100 points on that other draft.
