Draftcity says Jameer at #7

I can't believe it. I think they like Jameer but only if they move down. We will workout Gordon and Harris today.

I think the reason we worked out Jameer twice was to get someone good to workout against Livingston.

#7 Jameer Nelson: He’s been flying up the board over the past few weeks, and we really think he found a home here at #7 going to Phoenix. He has worked out for them twice already, the latest being yesterday, and by all accounts had a typical (for him) excellent workout. The Suns can go big with Barbosa at times, or they can put both of them on the floor for small spurts (Barbosa is an excellent defender, although not ideal at the 2 spot for long periods) and wreak havoc with their up and down style of play. Nelson is a warrior and a true leader, something that the Suns could really use in this draft if they don’t trade down.

On top of it their assesment of Barbosa is totally wrong I think. He has great defensive tools but isn't a great defender yet. Probably only average because of his lack of experience.
He also lacks a lot of strength even against PGs. Based on last season Barbosa can't guard a decent shooting guard.

2. Steve Nash for a Bunch of Hacks (1998): In one of the many incredible moves made by Don Nelson in his first year as the Mavericks GM, such as trading the entire team in 1997, Nelson managed to steal Steve Nash from the Suns for…are you ready…the rights to Pat Garrity (see trade #1), Martin Murrsepp, Bubba (not to be confused with Bonzi) Wells and a future 1st round pick. OUCH! Give the Suns some Coppertone ‘cause they just got BURNED! Now on to #1…

Dude must have missed that the pick was a #9 pick and turned into Shawn Marion.
Not to mention that Nash wasn't nearly as good as he is now and was stuck behind KJ and JK.

I take Garrity and Marion for Nash anyday.

That deal was a steal for the Suns.

slin while i think that divac would bring some good leadership to the lockerroom i dont thing he would bring anything to the court. he couldnt run with this team. and to give his the type of money that it would take to get him wouldnt be very wise cost move.

i personally am hoping that they add a couple good role players to back up their roster and add deep to the bench. i am thinking of that rookie from dallas from last year, and/or maybe someone like wesley person to bring some outside shooting in off the bench, i would love to bring in a shot blocking center like ratliff but he isnt a free agent and i dont think portland is willing to trade him. i want to see the team become a running team based off of rebounding and shot blocking. we need better team defense. i believe that the offense will take care of itself with amare having another year to get stronger and camp under the new coach.

but cap you are very much right. and on a lottery pick you cant risk that kind of chance on so big of a handcap.

Lets be fair Nelson measured 5'11 without shoes, 6' 1/2" with shoes btw. And he is crafty like Tim Hardaway.

yea and iverson will be done in another 2 years because his body cant take the beating. and damon has been a good point guard since he left toronto.

both of these players have been more scoring players then true points.

now as far as nelson, harris, livingston, and gordan as far as they are to becoming point guards in the nba i would have to go with the suns management on picking out which one is the best. but from what i have read i am thinking that they will take harris because of his speed, style of play and basketball smarts (being a coachs son).

It depends on your definition of "impact". Best was an OK PG. Ford is an OK PG.

TJ Ford had a huge impact on the Bucks. They were over achievers for the entire year and Ford did a nice job running that team.

Ford is definately a pure PG.

If the Suns really liked Nelson, I think a trade down would be feasible. Some of the late lottery teams sound like they would like to move up.
