For something being touted as the return of old-school horror, I don't think a PG-13 rating helps it.
Booo! SO much for that one.
Is Ellen P. the Juno girl?
95% on Rotten Tomatoes with 132 reviews! That is incredible!
I'm definitely going to have to see this--at first I thought it looked awesome, but then I saw that it was rated PG-13 and it really deflated my motivation. But man, 95% for a horror movie? I don't know if that's happened before. The Descent (which to me is the best horror movie I've seen in at least 10 years) got an 85% when it came out.
The Descent? Seriously? I had to go look it up on IMDB just to make sure you posted about the same movie I remember. I do recall seeing parts of this movie, and it was just as stale and contrived as most of the horror movies any more. I wouldn't rank it as a good movie, and though I realize horror as a genre has been struggling, it's the best you've seen in 10 years? Zoiks, do I disagree!
Name one horror movie in the last 10 years that is better. The only one that come close IMO is 28 Days Later and there is very little separating the two.

Let the Right One In
Not really a horror movie.
If you get scared from Let the Right One In, more power to you, it is definitely a better movie than The Descent, I will say that, but I don't think I consider them anywhere similar as far as genre pictures go.
