even IF it happens, it's 2 full seasons away. Kinda early to be worried about it.

Even if Dragic goes back, which is his choice, at least PHX has time to target some PG's in the next 2 drafts which should have some really good prospects.

FOUL on OP for misleading thread title.

He said he MIGHT go back, would consider it. Of course he would. Doesn't mean he WILL. When is contract is up, he is a free agent. He can either stay with the Suns, or sign with another team, whether in the NBA or in Europe.

Not gonna happen. He was giving an interview to a foreign reporter who covers European basketball. Of course he's going to tell them it's possible. It's the polite thing to do.

Goran knows where his most lucrative opportunity is, and it's the NBA.

Suns guard Goran Dragic says that news of his imminent desire to play in Europe was "a big misunderstanding of the Greek journalist."
"In this moment I'm very happy in the NBA and I'm not going to Europe!" wrote Dragic. "My desire is to stay in Phoenix for many years!" Dragic had apparently mentioned that he might end his career in Europe, but that won't happen soon for the 24-year-old (who signed his email "EL DRAGON").

Yeah, what a loser. How dare he get mis-quoted by a Greek reporter.

And just so you know international players are automatically entered in the draft at age 22/23.

Is that true? That's incredibly strange.

The drafting thing? Yes it's true though I forget the exact rule. I think they are automatically entered if they are to turn 23 during the course of the NBA season.

I don't see why it is so strange. Collegiate players are automatically entered after their final playing year which is about the same age.

What a loser. Thats the most disrespectful thing when these guys enter the draft and arent even sure they want to play here. It really hurts the suns franchise...

What? You expect a 19 year old to know for sure that he wants to leave his country, his family, his culture, his friends, and know FOR SURE that he wants to start over in a new place?

It's not disrespectful at all. It's personal and a business decision.

Dragic said it was a misunderstanding. He intends to hopefully play many years in Phoenix.

I hope so. I still think he'll improve offensively...given the responsability of actually having to be better i mean....lead a team on both ends.
We may not see that for 3 more years.
It is interesting to note that Steve Nash's stats during his first five seasons (two with the Suns and three with Dallas) were:

POINTS........ASSISTS........MINUTES
...3.3..............2.1................10.5...
...9.1..............3.4................21.9...
...7.9..............5.5................31.7...
...8.6..............4.9................27.4...
.15.6..............7.3................34.1...

It wasn't until Steve's 9th season (back with the Suns) that he hit double digits in assists with 11.5. His ninth season!

In Dragic's first two seasons his stats were:
...4.5..............2.0................13.2
...7.9..............3.0................18.0

So in his second season, Goran averaged 1.2 points less and 0.4 assists less than Steve's second season in 3.9 less minutes.

But still some fans expect Goran to put up numbers like it took Steve nine seasons to accomplish. I don't understand it.

Dragic has shown the potential to be an outstanding Point Guard. Let's enjoy the ride.

I second the nomination.

Whos overreacting? Easy to say something stupid like that after we realize it was a missunderstanding.

Honestly, i dont see how it could be a missunderstanding. He said what he said, there is really no other way to take it. I wouldnt be surprised if he went back..

Calm. He said at the end of his career. His career probably won't be ending in two years.

You really don't see how a Greek reporter would misconstrue his comments to make it seem like he is eager to play in Greece?

He said he'd like to finish his playing day in Europe once his NBA playing days are over, which is what many players(even domestic ones) do. But go ahead and keep believing a Greek reporter instead of what Dragic has said himself.
