Paul Coro ‏@paulcoro 7h #Suns guard Goran Dragic will be in the Skills Challenge on All-Star Weekend. He'll team with OKC's Reggie Jackson in a new relay format.

Its gonna be Dragic and Jackson vs Damian Lillard and Trey Burke.

I hope Dragic makes the All Star team as well as Kobe's replacement. I wish Green would have got in for the 3pt shooting contest...I know he had said he would have liked to be in it as well.

Still, at least we will have one player in at least one of the contests in New Orleans...

Congratulations to Goran. I still hope he makes the All-Star team as a replacement.

Most of all, I hope he has a good time. He has worked his tail off with the Suns.

It would be a shame if Green wasn't in the Dunk and / or 3pt contest.

Well, the dunk contest itself is a shame. But that's a different story.

Respect to Goran for going after being snubbed. He and he team have all been very professional about it.

Bryant's replacement hasn't been named yet, and I don't really expect Paul to play either. There's a strategic advantage to Dragic making sure he's already in town in case a sub is called at the last minute. I would guess that is the main reason he was invited.

I saw an alert yesterday that Chris Paul will be playing and will be back for the two games before the break for the Clippers.

Yes, but I still won't be surprised if he either isn't ready as expected, or gets himself hurt again.

Dragic has now catapulted to the top of the list of the biggest snub of the All-Star game, if he wasn't already there.

The Davis selection isn't a surprise, though. The game is in New Orleans, after all, and he's been having a great year. I'm a little surprised they chose a PF to replace a G, but oh well.

I've changed my mind since Goran was snubbed for the All-Star team. I believe Goran should stay home and enjoy his family. Forget the NBA sideshow and get some rest.

Yea same here. I think he should decline the invite to the Skills challenge as a way of giving the finger to Adam Silver.

If they aren't gonna reward winning...

Miles Plumlee has been named as a replacement for Atlanta's Pero Antic in the All-Star weekend's Rising Stars Challenge. Alright, who is Pero Antic? He was off my radar.

And what would that accomplish? There is nothing to be gained by giving a finger to the boss. Being a good company-man and a team player is the way to go.

What difference does it make either way? Dragic should go if he wants to and skip it if he doesn't. His allegiance is to the Suns, not the commissioner's office.

This was posted on Real GM and it describes the situation perfectly:

Lillard is statistically inferior to dragic but since his team has more wins, he makes it in. Alright, I'll buy that I guess. But when Davis is statistically superior to Dragic, the wins don't matter. Double standard much?

Well, Davis is American and Dragic is Slovenian, the American surely gets favoured. Honestly, I expected as much. If he didn't get the nod above Lillard, I didn't think he'd get it above Davis.

It is unfair, but not all that surprising. In the eyes of the general public, and apparently also NBA personnel, Lillard and Davis were always destined to be perennial all-stars and are now on the verge of becoming elite franchise players, whereas Dragic is just having a really good season and nothing more. That's why they are going and he is not. The all-star game has always been and always will be a popularity contest, even with bench selections. Dragic would have had to be really outplaying those players by a wide margin to beat them out.

Not even close. This was an easy call and it had NOTHING to do with nationality. Look back at the history of the league and you'll see it's gone down this way before. The game is in New Orleans and the NBA always tries to get the local area energized. We (Americans) are as prone to prejudice and bias as anyone but this was solely because Davis plays for the local squad. Goran deserved it but the margin wasn't great enough to put him in over someone who also deserves it and is sure to be a crowd favorite.

Not only that but Davis will have a good shot at MVP. I've seen it happen so many times. The first one that comes to mind was Tom Chambers back when he played for Seattle.

Um are you serious?

Please tell me the last time that a player on a non playoff team won MVP.

I don't think Davis can even sniff Durant or LeBron.

We were talking about the All Star game and his MVP comment was in reference to that.
