Slow down there, chief. Baby steps.

He WILL look like a rookie. We should be hoping he shows flashes of what we hope he can be.

Am I the only one scratching my head here? Is this supposed to mean that he's starting this week or just that he's eventually going to be a good player?

Neither Urban or Somers are reporting anything about DRC starting this week.

This is all we could have hoped for.

If he was not starting by the end of the year there would have been sufficient reason to wonder if he was ever going to be more then a marginal to good player and I can guaran-damn-tee you people on here would have been calling him a bust outright.

Now we can still dream about Pro Bowls and HOF careers:)

I took it as starting this week.

Someone else last week said that Hightower was starting. We laughed it off and changed the thread title, only to see Hightower actually start.

IIRC DRC was the #2 CB the other day once Green was burnt.

THIS POST MAKES ABSOLUTLY NO SENSE AT ALL

So if we waited til the end of the year he would've become a bust?
As much as the negativity around here gets critisized......so should the blind faith

Ahh ChiCards - I just don't think you and I are ever going to get along:)

I was stating that if he wouldn't have started by the end of the year there would have been numerous thread started in the offseason saying DRC is a bust. And we all love those. Not that he actually would have been a bust. Its more an indictment of our quick to assume nature and "cut him" and "annoit him" mentality.

I was merely commenting that now we can dream about him being an all time player as not many of the top 2-3 players at their position sit the bench throughout the first year. With the really great guys they usually bust out fairly quickly and at least show flashes.

Are there exceptions? Sure. I am not saying anything one way or the other about his future. But surely you can admit him starting this year is better then him not being able to crack the starting line up.

Capice?

I love the guy and all but he had a big time boneheaded play when he threw Holt down out of bounds. After that Holt went off on the kid.

Why did Green lose his job? He didnt get burnt on that TD he had perfect coverage on a very fast (and lucky) WR.

LOL - You are angry sir....Maybe I am Italian and was using my mother tounge?

Again - bolded quote aside - are you now MORE encouraged about his potential or LESS encouraged about his potential now that he is breaking into the starting line up?

Thats my point - and if he wasn't starting over Eric Green by the end of the season and either a) Green and Hood were lighting it up or B) DRC was injured - then yes I would be QUESTIONING if he would ever become a star that we hope we had picked on the Champ Bailey level. Is that a defacto slap on him and his career going forward? Hell no. But the key is in my bolded words. And your kidding yourself if you dont think many of the masses on the board would have been saying/wondering the same thing.

My diction aside from my inital post - my point is I am encouraged he is starting - I see that as a great sign for the future.

Make sense?;)

I think it was because he gave up on the play for a second when the catch was made. Also DRC is much faster and is less likely to get burnt deep like that. I think it's fair to say that Green has been less than stellar this year.

His Cousin, who is the BEST CB in the NFL didn't start until his 3rd season.

Again I go with Ashmouga myself and actually others this year as he is not playing up to the hype he generated himself(did you see his game against Brandon Marshall this season?)

And the fact that he didn't start his first year is more situational and based on circumstance. When he was drafted he fell because he tore his ACL early in his senior season at FSU and was picked because of what he would become rather then what he was. Much like Willis McGahee.

And his second year he was playing behind two studs in Florence and Jammer and HE STILL led the league in INT's and gave flashes that he was a stud for years to come.

So that goes back to my point and I recant on this note. If he had not gotten into the starting line up this year but had 5 INT's and changed a couple games then I would be very encouraged about that as well.

So the starting I guess is semantics. Can't I just say I am excited he is starting and beating out a vet in Green? That's what I was hoping for when he was drafted but not all that certain about it because he was deemed a "project"..

Geez people I am happy here. Your taking my words but missing my overlying point and playing the "well theres a lot of CB's who become stars who didn't start their first year - so your wrong" (although i would think the actual number of that is actally happening is minimal).

I think he is going to be a star and this is encouraging in furthering that belief.

He's not ready to start, he still doesn't react well when the ball is in the air. That TD by Holt he had perfect coverage, just froze when the ball was in the air.

I think he has the tools to be good but needs more coaching up. Fine with playing him regularly but starting him concerns me, I think he'll get picked on quite a bit.

Actually this I agree with. But I am encouraged that the coaches see him as someone who would perform at a higher level then Green already. Last weeks catch aside I though Green was playing quite well.

Is all of this speculation or is someone actually reporting that DRC is starting this week? I haven't seen it reported anywhere else but here.
