The Chicago Bears prioritized overhauling the trenches this offseason, which included the signing of center Drew Dalman to a three-year, $42 million contract at the start of free agency.

Pro Football Focus shared their favorite free agent signings for every NFL team, and Dalman was the easy choice for Chicago. Not only does he complete the overhaul of the interior offensive line, but they also dubbed him the best scheme among new free agent additions.

Dalman not only acts as the final piece to the Bears' puzzle up front, but he also profiles as perhaps the best scheme fit for any new free agent to sign with a new team this cycle. New head coach Ben Johnson’s fingerprints are all over this signing, and it bodes well for his team's potential breakout in 2025.

Dalman earned a 78.8 grade from Pro Football Focus, which made him their fourth-best center during the 2024 season. Now, he gets the added benefit of playing alongside All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and guard Jonah Jackson, who were both acquired via trade ahead of free agency.

With the additions of Dalman, Thuney and Jackson, the Bears completed an overhaul of the interior offensive line in an effort to protect quarterback Caleb Williams as new head coach Ben Johnson makes his influence known on this roster.

The Bears had a couple of other notable free-agent additions, including defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo, but Dalman's impact along the interior offensive line was their biggest move.
