Drobnjak would have been a nice pick up for Phoenix to fill the center position and the price (a second round pick) was certainly cheap enough.

This guy is an outside player, we do not need a backup power forward that wants to play like a small forward.

We wouldnt have had cap space to make a trade like that. Doesnt he make something like 3 mill or something?

I have been really unimpressed by Drobnjak in the Olympics and the pre-Olympic tourney. He's really slow, and plays outside almost exclusively (a bad combination).

Yes, I'm sure we would have needed to do a trade of some sorts, perhaps with multiple players and/or multiple teams to make it work. It would have probably had to be a complicated trade which is the reason the Suns didn't do it.

The bottom line, is that I think Drobnjak is a very serviceable center that was obtained for only a second round draft pick.

He is a player that I have always liked and thought had a lot of upside. He has a nice outside shot and can rough it up when he wants to play that way.

Drobnjak for Eisley would have made sense for the Bobcats, they have the cap space for a veteran point guard. As in Chad Ford's comment, their backcourt is not going to scare anyone.

the only people Howard Eisley will scare are those who sign his paychecks.

Do you really think Voskuhl can carry the whole load and with all due respect to Jake, he really is more suited to a back up role. I don't think Lampe is ready as a nineteen year old to play center as a starter.

I don't understand all the negativity about Drobnjak. He is as serviceable as most centers in the NBA and he is just about as good a center a team is going to get for the asking price, a second round draft pick. Anyway the oppportunity is gone for now.

Unless the Suns trade for a center (probably giving up a component of our nucleous and/or Chicago's pick) the pickings are pretty slim. I don't see where the Suns or fans can be overly picky. It presently looks like it will be center by committee and I would have welcomed a player like Drobnjak to join the committee. Do you think Scott Williams or Steven Hunter are going to do better?

Drobnjak is just as good as Voskuhl with a different style of play. Dont need him. Suns need a guys who gets rebounds and blocks shots.

Like who? (without giving up major pieces). Besides I would have liked another player like Voskuhl. :)

We could still have added another role center for the minimum to fit your description (if there are any left) like Steven Hunter (?). I don't think the Suns are high on Keon Clark. Maybe there are others.

Personally, I think the Suns have already decided what they are going to do at the center position. I just wish I knew so there would not be so much anxiety about the matter.
