So my current phone just broke and I'm in the market for a new one. I saw the Droid X in the store and it looks really cool. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it and can give an honest assessment of it. My other big question is, are the data plans really worth it? I currently have a phone that I use to make calls and text. I don't know if I want to pay and extra $30 a month. Is it worth it?

I have a Droid Incredible by HTC and absolutely love it. IT is slimmer than the X.

The data is super fast and I believe well worth it.

There are thousands of Android Apps too that you can tweak your phone to your liking and have individualistic content.

I saw the X and I personally rate the DInc ahead of it.

Isn't that great, but all smart phones with heavy usage will eat up battery life.

Droid X is the superior device.

The Incredible is awesome too and the comparison is splitting hairs. X is faster, has bigger screen, and has less stuff going on within it because it doesn't run the "sense" UI that all HTC android phones contain. This makes for a lighter operating system that takes up less space on the processor. Both phones contain a 1Ghz processor but since the X has less internals, it moves more swiftly.

And even though the X has a bigger screen, the battery life is MUCH longer than that of the Incredible.

p.s......

I have both phones..... Used all Droid's on VZW except for the Droid Eris.......

If I rated them....

1. X
2. Incredible
3. Droid
4. Eris

Also, do not discount the fact that the virtual keyboard is bigger on the X. It really has made me a faster typer.

So I got my phone in the mail today and I was wondering if any of you guys had suggestions on what apps to add. I've never had a smart phone and have no clue what is useful or just a good time waster.

I hate that they put the back button in the middle. Also, I prefer the touchkeys for back, settings, home, search on my moto droid to the droid x...DX they are hard to find and push, IMO.

Other than that, the phone is the BALLS. A coworker has it.

I agree with the buttons. That is a huge reason I like the Inc better than the X.

Droid started pushing 2.2 yesterday. Incredible & X by next week.

I can't wait for it. FroYo is a great upgrade, from all I've read.

Absolutely love the Google Sky Map. We've been tracking Venus each night, it's amazing how bright it is. Throw in last night's crescent moon and it was pretty awesome to see. Saturn and Mars are also in the same area right now.
