Just heard on Xtra910 radio.. Eddie Rodriguez and Dwayne Murphy will not be on the coaching staff next season. They weren't fired though. The D'Backs have offered them minor league positions. Also, Sherlock and Young are switching places. Sherlock will be at 1st base and Yount the bench coach.

If this is all true - it sure works for me. Wonder who will replace Murph and E-Rod?

Rich Schu is the new hitting coach. As for the 3rd base coach, the new guy's last name is Padrique (sp?).

Al Pedrique was the Sidewinders manager this past year, so they'll have to find a manager for Tucson.

Nice to see Yount move to the dugout to replace Sherlock, Gotta believe that he'll be a huge asset to Brenly.

Personally I think Murph got screwed, did he forget everything from 2001 and 2002 when the D'backs were one of the best hitting clubs in baseball? I think not...but someone had to take the fall.

Nice moves.

Bench coach is the messenger/liaison for the manager. I think Robin Yount had the personality and respect that would allow him to deal with the players. E Rod was totally obvious. As for Dwayne Murphy, Zenny must be dancing in the streets.

Rick Schu is so funny as a hitting coach. He was going to be the next Michael Jack Schmidt, a total flop as a major league hitter.

Welcome to Major League, Pedrique & Schu.

Especially, Pedrique deserves to be a ML coaching staff job.
From the various articles & quote about Pedrique,
"Babybacks' players like him very much.

I was guessing Rick Schu might be tapped for hitting when they said earlier that they were looking to bring in some of the minor league guys they think have been familiar with/ instrumental in/ babybacks' success, and was pretty sure that was why they gave Pedrique a dry run in September. Mark Davis for Bullpen, now Schu and Pedrique. I am not unhappy with this arrangement, given that they were always prone to make moves from within. And ecstatic with Yount as Bench coach. And yes, yes, dancing in the streets on that other stuff. LOL. Now I'll have to find someone else to kick around. :D

I didn't realize that the Diamondbacks even had a third-base coach this season. I thought they just put a green light there. :)

I wonder if Al Pedrique (who was 3B coach while managing at Tucson this year) might forget to look into the dugout, and help manufacture some runs next season.

I hope so.
