Updated -- OT: DeSean Jackson would welcome the franchise tag

In between three drops, DeSean Jackson caught four passes for 73 yards in Sunday's loss, earning a benching from coach Andy Reid midway through the fourth quarter.

Reid called the benching a "coach's decision," so it's clear he could have physically continued. The performance was the low-point of an already disastrous season, as Jackson let a touchdown slip through his hands in the second quarter before muffing a 49-yard grab in the third. His touchdown drop appeared to come as a result of him shying away from a big hit from Patriots CB Kyle Arrington. D-Jax's act is wearing increasingly thin in Philly, and at this point he could be more likely to be handed his walking papers than a new contract this offseason.

Love it. Bring him here!

He's not lazy, but a bit immature......he's not a #1 WR, but this season, he's had to be. He's the perfect speedy compliment to our tall, sure-handed stud.

He would be a great complementary receiver to Fitz, and would come here understanding that he is the number 2 WR. Stretches the field like few players in this league and would open up the outside and middle for Fitz and Housler.

He would be a great compliment to Fitz, but he would want a lot of money and having 2 high priced receivers is far fetched.

If we were not willing to pay Boldin, a guy who kills himself out on the field, then I dont see anyway they shell out the money to sign Jackson.

If we trade back and get back a 2nd round pick, Kendall Wright could be as effective.

I guess bringing him in is a little better than trading for Tebow with the intention of making him a pocket passer. Still, if we're going to pay big money to a number two receiver I'd prefer someone that at least runs good routes. There's a reason (several actually) that Philly didn't extend this guy early in his rookie contract like they usually do. And as a general rule, if a guy has warts playing elsewhere, they get a lot bigger when he plays for the Cardinals.

he is lazy in his game play much like DRC was in coverage, gets distracted and does not perform at times. Dropped a touchdown pass today which hit him in the breadbasket and his route running says lazy to me. Maybe lazy is not the proper word, I will offer the words selfish and impatient but still even with all that...his speed would be huge with Fitz.

Don't want a jerk like this on our roster. Fix the o-line and add a young WR in the third if necessary

Would rather that money go to a good tackle than a one dimensional WR who wants to be top paid at his position. Can the Cards even afford to sign another expensive WR with Fitz making QB money?

Agreed. The entire reason they traded Boldin was because they couldnt have two high priced receivers.

Finding a true #1 receiver is really hard, but the Cards have that already. Finding a decent speed guy should be something they can do in free agency or the draft without having to break the bank.

If you can get Jackson with him understanding he's not going to make Fitz money, you do it, the guy is a major weapon.

I predicted before the year started he'd have a down year he's totally unhappy with his contract and he's the type of kid who lets that bother him.

Someone is going to take a shot at him and with our cap space and our lack of a #2 it makes sense to at least look at him. But you gotta understand who you're getting. He's always had that cocky streak, he's not going over the middle(too small) and he's going to have some drops has every year of his career.

I actually think he runs good routes too it was one of the first thigns Tedford said when he got to Cal one of the best freshman route runners he'd ever seen. his brother played pro ball and taught him that apparently.

But if he wants #1 WR money you don't go near him he's just not going to be one of those guys who plays well if not happy.

I liked him coming out of college and wanted the Cards to draft him. However, if he doesn't straighten up, he could become Freddie Mitchell part 2.

Impending free agent DeSean Jackson said he'd have no problem accepting the franchise tag from the Eagles.

Jackson's status will be one of the league's major stories this offseason. He played this season like someone upset about not getting paid, skipping a team meeting and alligator-arming countless balls. His 961 receiving yards, four touchdowns and 6.7 yards per punt return were all lows since his rookie year. If slapped with the franchise tag, Jackson would earn somewhere around $9.4 million for the 2012 season.

They couldn't have two high priced WRs that posses close to the same skill set.
The Edwards non-contract proved they were ready to invest in a field-stretching guy.

With Fitz YPC being what it was this year, isn't he that guy now?

The biggest question is, does the team risk what it's built in the locker room for a diva? They have a lot of personalities in place as control measures, but it's always easier for one man to poison a locker room than it is to have a good one.

I just don't see how the risk is worth the reward.

I don't think he would fit into our system that well personally. I think his fear of injury so he can get paid will be his downfall in this league.
