One of the great managers of my lifetime, Earl Weaver, passed away on an Orioles associated cruise in the Caribbean. He was 82.

Known for his short temper and willingness to scrap with umpires (he was ejected 91 times in his career, including twice in a doubleheader); Weaver was the greatest manager in history of the Baltimore Orioles finishing with a record of 1,480-1,060 record.

Umpires in heaven better watch out! RIP Earl.

I became an Orioles fan when they drafted Jim Palmer and I stayed with them until the Diamondbacks became a reality. Weaver gets my biased vote for best manager ever, not just in Orioles history. RIP Earl.
