While there were plenty of miscues during the always-frenetic first day, a few players stood out besides Baker. Scroll down.

Colorado State-Pueblo wide receiver Larry Clark, a tryout guy, was the first name specified, and while Arians hadn’t yet become familiar with Clark’s last name by the end of the first practice, “I learned his first name already, and that’s a really good thing.”

Rutgers wide receiver Carlton Agudosi and Wisconsin cornerback Sojourn Shelton, both of whom were undrafted signees, were two others who played well, Arians said. Shelton would have been in consideration for one of the Cardinals’ seventh-round picks if they didn’t trade up for Rudy Ford.

“We had him up there pretty high,” Arians said. “That’s why we went after him right after the draft. We really liked him.”

Arians said the team will decide by Sunday if any of the tryout guys will make the roster.

You definitely get the feeling at this early stage, that BA wants it to be open competition for roster spots among the 90+ players and wants everyone to hear the pitter-patter of little footsteps.

(And that some of those footsteps seem to be growing louder).

Interesting also, to learn that Binford and Hall made it back to the Tryout Squad.

Pipkin has great ball placement on nearly every one of those throws on the highlights , which is a great measure of accuracy. He throws people open.

It's a HUUUUGE jump in competition, but I guess you never know. Hard to believe he didn't get elsewhere other than Tipton.

Would love to see Brandon Beaver make a spot, even if it's just for training camp. We'd be the only team with a Badger and Beaver in the defensive backfield.

I mentioned Agudosi before when reviewing the UDFAs. He's 6'6" with a vertical over 40". I don't know I've seen that combo before. He could become a red zone nightmare for teams to cover. He needs to add strength so he can't be easily redirected on routes. An interesting option for sure. I think he makes the practice squad at least. Should be fun to watch this preseason.

Except he was in college for 5 years and caught like 20 passes TOTAL. If he was 18 years old,there would be something to work with. At 23 or 24, I think the ship has sailed.

But he'd make a great doorman at that size. Carleton the doorman.

Carson Palmer won’t throw much this offseason

“He’ll do everything mentally,” Arians said, via the team’s website. “He tosses some soft ones around. He doesn’t need to be out there right now.”

Gabbert, Drew Stanton, Zac Dysert and Trevor Knight will be doing most of the throwing through the end of the offseason program. One of them may be hitting the road before camp if the Cardinals plan to step up Palmer’s workload, but it won’t come as a great shock if the team continues to keep Palmer’s powder dry until a bit closer to the main event.

I don't see it. He seems way average as a college receiver so no way the Cards have the patience to develop him. Go look at some freshman tape of N'keal Harry to see the difference between natural ability. Sure the kid is 6'6" but he doesn't seem to use his body that well.

You have to look at the insanity that was the Rutgers football program to understand why his performance was weak. In 2015 they worked with a very rigid playbook that paired him in a rotation with Leonte Carroo. Only one of them was allowed on the field at a time. After Carroo became a Dolphin and Rutgers changed coaches, Agudosi thought the role would fall to him. However he never was given much of a chance to win a starting job.

I'm not trying to say this guy will be a great addition. I'm just saying he's worth looking at for an extended period of time. Clearly the Cards agree on this. There is little downside to that strategy. If he can assert himself and be the player his measurables suggest, the Cards could get lucky with this signing.

Perfectly said. I think he could develop into a hybrid WR/TE/HB...similar to the current role Fitz has. Like you pointed out earlier, how often do you find a 6'6" receiver with a 40" vertical.

Sometimes the late round picks and UDFAs are like college recruiting...you can throw out what they did or didn't do in college in favor of developing the athlete into a bona fide contributor.

Plus, Agudosi would be an immediate asset on STs as a kick blocker. Probably as good an athlete as you are going to get for that role.

Find guys with unteachable attributes ( size, speed, etc) and good attitudes. Take a chance that NFL coaching can unlock something.

Day three of the draft and udfa picks are full of them.

Agudosi has achance cause he has either physical tools and flexibility to be a good special teams player
