QB Patrick Devlin and linebacker Dontay Moch are the two that I am most interested in in that game. Have not seen much of either, but they have been talked up quite abit. If Moch is as good as Mitch thinks he is he might be a second round steal.

Two things that I see in everyones reports on the practices so far -

1. Pat Devlin is tiny, small arm, spraying the field with innacurate balls, and cant drop back from udner center.

2. Marvin Austin is blowing people up, but with bull rushes not pass rush moves.

It says Moch is listed at 6'1, 229. I would pick him up in the 4th or 5th and try to develop him as a pass rushing OLB.

So far after reading the practice reports it sounds like Pat Devlin is not our man. Just from hearing about the arm strength turns me off on him. It sounds like the QB to watch in this game is going to be Scott Tolzein.

Joe, have you watched much of DT David Carter and what do you think of him? According to the practice report it sounds like he is going to be the star of the East-West Shrine game. They are saying he's almost unblockable.

Seen a lot of UCLA games but I can remember anything that stood out with this kid in the games I did watch. Must not have done anything good or bad to make me take notice.

Without a doubt that hurt his stock big time. He will have to gain 5 pounds just to be considered by 4-3 teams looking for a weakside 4-3 OLB.

Tolzein has a sidearm delivery (IIRC) and a not so strong arm.

It's really low. like the release point is about shoulder level. It's not really side arm so yes, it is funky. I bet he's a real good darts player.

Seen a lot of UCLA games but I can remember anything that stood out with this kid in the games I did watch. Must not have done anything good or bad to make me take notice.

Going through the games that I have taped this year I don't have a UCLA game in the bunch to watch. I guess I'll just have to see how good he is in the Shrine game to form some sort of opinion on him.

he doesnt have a big arm, but he is pretty accurate and he can drop back. In fact he and Ponder are the best west coast prospects in this draft.

On the other hand, any comparisons of Delaware QB Pat Devlin to Joe Flacco have been doused at the Shrine week so far. Besides coming in a lot shorter than advertised (6-3, 225), Devlin was erratic with his throws and easily bothered in the pocket on the first day of full practice..

At the same time, there appears some divided opinions on Delaware QB Pat Devlin. A number of scouts really like what they have seen from Devlin, but I just haven't seen it yet; Devlin is shorter than advertised and lacks the prototype arm strength of a near-elite QB prospect.

Can drop back? Dude hasnt played under center since he transfer to Deleware two years ago. He has truggled greatly at these practices for the very fact he cannot drop back.

You can still be 6-4 220 and still be tiny. Dude is thin and doesnt pass the eye ball test. Looks like he will break the first time he gets hit.

He makes a good three step drop either from behind center or from the shotgun. He has a good hitchstep as well prior to the throw. That's what's all about, it's about making progressions while you take the three steps back. He wont have any problems with that.

He is arguably the best QB this year in releasing the football after making a read in another direction. He is very quick doing that, it's important trait for an west coast offense. And he has shown many times to be able to manipulating safeties.

You can't compare being in the shotgun to taking a drop from center. The mechanics are completely different, and the footwork necessary as well.
