So, I guess it wasn't the OL after all... it WAS the RB.

Thanks, Whiz, for letting your EGO get in the way of the running game.

Our O-line still sucks and Edge is old. Both played well today but lets keep it in perspective: it was against a porous Seattle run D.

Yeah, but we couldn't do anything against the Rams worst rushing defense either... TH is just not ready yet. Edge is the best thing we have right now. I wouldn't mind seeing how JJ would do but for some reason, he only got 1 carry today. I guess Edge was tearing it up today. But TH still got 3 carries for 3 yards...

Exactly. We weren't able to run against anyone except SF (1st game), STL (Hightower's 1st start), and today. We could really use guys like Duke Robinson and Alex Mack (my dream 1st 2 picks in the draft). But I think we need to keep Edge now as Hightower is just not ready to be the full time back.

It's clearly a personal thing with the coach. Hopefully Edge will start in the playoffs.

Just got home from the game, but most of you know where I stand on the issue. It was about 7-8 weeks too late imo, Whiz made a huge mistake and who knows how many games it cost this team. What's best for the team should be what coaches do, sadly it took Whiz way to long to admit his mistake.

Funny thing is that Whiz stated as a matter of fact that this team was going to need Edge before the season was over. Could we be naive to think this was Whiz's plan all along?
Could he of had the foresight to save the remaining tread left on Edges tires?

I'm not saying this was his thinking, but if so, he will be hailed a genious.

Not true that we only ran good in total three games... here is the breakdown

SF - Total 109; Edge 26/100 (3.85); TH 8/13 (1.63)
MIA - Total 81; Edge 18/55 (3.06); HT 10/24 (2.4)
WAS - Total 116; Edge 18/93 (5.2); HT 5/23 (4.6)
NYJ - Total 42; Edge 9/29 (3.22); TH 6/13 (2.17)
We got behind early by a lot and gave up on running
BUF - Total 123; Edge 21/57 (2.71); TH 7/37 (5.29)
DAL - Total 50; Edge 9/29 (3.22); TH 7/20 (2.86)
NC - Total 50; Edge 7/17 (2.43); TH 6/3 (0.5)
STL - Total 176; Edge (DNP); TH 22/109 (4.95)
SF - Total 46; Edge 2/4 (2.0); TH 13/22 (1.7)
SEA - Total 76; Edge 1/1 (1.0); TH 11/35 (3.2)
NYG - Total 23; Edge 1/-1 (-1.0); TH 11/21 (1.9)
PHI - Total 25; Edge (DNP); TH 7/7 (1.0)
We got behind early by a lot and gave up on running
STL - Total 63; Edge 3/11 (3.7); TH 12/32 (2.7)
MIN - Total 43; Edge (DNP); TH 5/20 (4.0)
We got behind early by a lot and gave up on running
NE - Total 44; Edge 4/19 (4.8); TH 10/17 (1.7)
SEA - Total 111; Edge 14/100 (7.1); TH 3/3 (1.0)

I count 6 good rushing games (greater than 80 yards), 2 decent games (greater than 60 yards), 8 bad games (less than 60 yards) out of which we stopped running in 3/8 games once we got way behind very early in these games.

I also highlighted good/decent (3.0 or higher avg) and bad games (less than 3.0 avg) by both Edge and Hightower. I'm using just yards. I see 8 good/decent games by Edge and 4 by TH behind same OL.

I'm not saying we don't have problem rushing. But, I think the issue was greatly exposed by handing the rushing reins to Hightower too early in his career. He was clearly not ready. Even though Edge is not a big play threat, he does give a solid rushing attack.

Nope... it was a screw up on his part.

I didn't believe Hightower was the answer but thought Edge was done. Nice to see him run so well today.

I will agree however that Edge needs to start. He has much better vision than Hightower and given our offensive line woes we need all the help we can get.

That old back made the young ones look really, REALLY bad then because that game was so much more impressive than ANY game TH has given this team. Way to throw some negativity towards a consumate pro that stayed in shape and was ready to go when the nucklehead coach that wrongfully benched him eight weeks ago called upon him FINALLY.

Edge also picks up blitzes about 1000 times better than "Tower of Power". It's a pretty glaring difference actually.

Well it wasn't a glaring difference for the coach and most people on here for the last 2 months. Glad people are seeing it finally.

^ So TH must have DEAD LEGS and no point to make whatsoever right? Just give Edge the ball and he will work his ass off to get you yards its not always pretty but he's proven consistant if you give him the ball. And i mean 15-20 times a game not 4

The thing Edge does is make you work to stop the run.

That's all we need is someone the other team worries about, they aint going to worry about him hitting a home run but singles and doubles add up and once they have to do anything to adjust to him he's done his job.

Edge was not performing midseason. I don't fault Whis for benching him...but I am glad he went back to the well..and I expect Edge to have a big impact in the playoffs.

If you want to make a statement to a player not performing well I can see benching him for a game but 8 weeks? It was a stupid move by Wiz imo, and we lost a bunch of games that we could have been a different team if not for a stubborn coach that clearly has personal issues with Edge.

And did it really matter?

I agree. Edge wouldn't have been benched if he'd been running then like he did today vs. Seattle.

Perhaps the decision and motivation by Whis were questionable but I don't agree that it's too late or that it hurt the team. Even if it was a total mistake by Whis, he seems to have corrected it before the playoffs started.

Who says J.J. Arrington couldn't have run for 100+ yards today?
