Its all over ESPN radio this morning that Edge has spoken to an ESPN reporter and was quoted as saying that regardless of his one year remaining on his contract he will not be back next season no matter what. (we all know he will likely be released but seems kind of dumb to say that when its really not up to him unless he sits out).

They go on to quote James as saying "Im not an offensive lineman and Im not payed to be an offensive lineman" blah blah blah...totally painting a negative picture of our locker room IMO the day before our playoff game. Why doent he just shut up? If asked a question say something like:

"all I'm concerned about is our playoff game tomorrow and advancing, the rest will sort it self out at the appropriate time"

Just **** already. First home playoff game in 47 years and the headlines are about him and him not wanting to be an OL?

Making mountains out of molehills. He'll be gone by the time free agency starts just relax and enjoy the playoffs.

Here's more... Not too bad actually...

Edgerrin James thinks days in Arizona are almost over...

Edgerrin James figures the end of his tenure with the Arizona Cardinals is rapidly approaching. "I think so," James said. "I'm not worried about that," but, "I think so."
Then he laughed and said, "I think the feeling is mutual. That's not something I'm going to contest!"

"Edge" got in a bit of hot water in midseason when he suggested he should be used more, then played a bad game at Carolina on Oct. 26. From that point, he all but disappeared until re-surfacing with a 100-yard game on Sunday.
Though no announcement has been made, he figures to start Saturday in the playoffs vs. Atlanta.
James explained that "buying into" a pass-dominated team is difficult for him.

"It's hard for me to train as hard as I train in the offseason and come and be prepared to pass 50 times. I don't know if you can make me happy with that. That's one thing I never was comfortable with."

Now, though, with the Cardinals in the playoffs, "That's all over with. Now it's time to get serious. ...

"I'm here to try to make plays and try to get this team moving forward."
James disputed any public perception may have been that he's lost a step.

Im not making a mountain of anything. Just reporting what was said and saying that I wish he would just shut up. HE SHOULD NOT BE WHAT THE MEDIA IS FOCUSING ON RIGHT NOW! Yet he makes it so.

Thats all the quotes he gave Urban in his story I believe. Definitely a better one.

Who cares what the media is focusing on Shane? What matters is what the players who matter on this team are focusing on and Edge really isn't one of those guys anymore. If anything this is more likely to give the Falcons false hope thinking there are locker room issues that don't exist than it is to mess with our own players heads.

I don't see it as a big deal. He's accepted the reality that Whis is not going to have him back. He's just saying out loud whatever every single person associated with the team has been saying for weeks now.

This is the quote from him that matters the most.

Now, though, with the Cardinals in the playoffs, "That's all over with. Now it's time to get serious. ...

"I'm here to try to make plays and try to get this team moving forward."

Your right about the locker room. But once again its perception on a national level. All the little things that players say in the open and to the media at a time when everyone is paying attention. He should just ****. You dont agree? Fine that your right.

Sorry to hear this but my take was we would likely cut Edge anyway. His age is working against him as is his salary. I hope either an OL,DL, or RB is taken in Rd 1 and the other two are filled by FA. Wrong time is certainly the words to use. Some times players just do not use good sense. Boldin is showing real class in the way he is handling his situation. It is really a shame we cannot afford to tie up so money in WR. Hopefully this will have no effect on our effort. Edge can go out in a blaze of glory if he can put up 100+ yds. I think it will take this to win this game.

I am seeing a large number of underclassmen RB declaring for the draft. Perhaps we can get lucky.

It's probably better for him than refusing to do interviews. But, I don't think it bothers the team either way.

I don't think he should be talking but I don't really think it is a big deal either. This isn't like the time TO called out McNabb right before the Superbowl. It might be annoying that Edge is running his mouth, but it shouldn't change the results tomorrow which is the only thing I'm concerned with.

Looking at this from Edge's prospective I would also be ticked off if I were not playing and would want to go where I could hopefully start behind a good OL. All these guys think they should be starters especially guys like Edge who was a star for so many years. He sees the writing on the wall just like we all do. He want be here next year but he will play as hard as he can come Saturday. Wish he was about 6 years younger.

Our former RB Thomas Jones is letting Favre have it for playing hurt. He said if a guy at QB is not 100% or at least near it he should not stay in the game and hurt the rest of the team. Some truth in that unless you have no decent backup who can play better than an injured Favre. Apparently Jones thought Favre was to injured to play effectively.

Colts won the Superbowl after dumping Edge. Cards need to do so forthwith.

If we advance in the playoffs it will likely be that Edge is playing well otherwise we may not go to far. I don't see anything wrong with him not just wanting to block all the time he is a good player and wants to get his touches, if the Cards don't want to do anything but throw I would want to leave as well. Good luck getting a RB that doesn't want the ball might as well just run no back sets and use extra linemen or TE's if your just gonna throw every down.

Edge and Rosenhaus are posturing to get Edge on a team next season. Like when Scott Boras decided to release the news that A-Rod opted out of his contract during the World Series.

Boras is using the success of the Cards as an opportunity to market his player. Potentially to the detriment of our team.

And Edge has apparently signed off on the move.

Screw Edge.

Someone should tell those fat lard butts to open some holes, if he really said that good, they deserve to be called out.

Now if they do manage to open one it's on Edge to do something with it, heck I hope the whole team comes out mad as heck, fights amoungst themselves and works it out just in time to kick the snot out of the other team.

This team needs some air to be cleared and people not doing their jobs need to be called out.

Open some holes, you're a NFL pro OL act like it.

I'm also not really disagreeing with those who think Edge is a problem.

I'm actually quite partial to the fact Whis picked a fight with him and was willing to suffer mightily for it to prove a point to the team.

Long term you don't want guys like Edge on a team this young and immature, guys like him who think they run the team are really some kind of anti leader IMO.

Yeah he's good, yeah it sometimes sounds good but it's not really leadership it's meship.
