I will keep up with Cards officials picks each round here, while we each continue to post who we would have picked or thought the Cards would have picked out of those available.

Cards actual Picks:
R1 - D J Humphries, OT, Florida
R2 - Markus Golden, DE, Missouri
R3 - David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa
R4 - Rodney Gunter, DL, Delaware St
R5 - Shaq Riddick, DE, W VIRG
R5 - J.J. Nelson, WR, UAB
R7 - Gerald Christian, TE, Louisville

My picks would have been:
R1 - Malcom Brown, DT, Texas - he was the main guy I always dreamed would fall to us at #24
R2 - Eli Harold, OLB, Virginia - thought he was a 1st round talent, also preferred Coleman, RB, or Petty, QB, w/ this pick.
R3 - Grady Jarrett, NT, Clemson (or Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor)
R4 - Jake Ryan, OLB, Michigan - good football player, captain of team, fills need
R5 - Lorenzo Doss, CB, Tulane - would have been a steal for us, has size and speed to turn into excellent starting CB.
R5 - Josh Robinson, RB, Miss St - great short yardage RB, short, hard to find behind those big OLmen. Love this kid.
R7 - Quinton Spain, OG, W Virginia - big body, 6'4" 330 lbs, tough as nails, but needs coaching on technique.

My picks would have been:
R1 - Byron Jones/Malcom Brown coinflip
R2 - Jaelen Strong (would entertain Harold)
R3 - David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa
R4 - Kwon Alexander, OLB, LSU (I wouldn't have traded up to the spot and got him where we were originally)
R5 - Damian Swann, CB, Georgia (motor)
R5 - Andy Gallik, C, Boston College OR Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State (depending upon whether I thought Bennett would be an effort guy or if he was a tired guy)
R7 - Zack Waggenmann, DE (OLB), Montana

The hardest part of all of this is that I'd have never given away the 6 and 7 to move up a few spots. Plus, we got my Mr. Irrelevant anyway in UDFA, so, luckeee.

Okay guys, lets get caught up. Who would you have picked instead of who Cards actually got.

I'm going to go off the assumption that it would have taken a 3rd round pick to move up to #21 and get Bud Dupree, and I would have made that move..

1.21 - Bud Dupree (OLB - Kentucky)
2.26 - Tevin Coleman (RB - Indiana)
4.17 - Max Garcia (C - Florida)
5.22 - Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (CB - Oregon)
5.23 - Michael Bennett (DT - Ohio St)
7.39 - La'el Collins (OL - LSU) or Taiwan Jones (ILB - Mich State) or Mike Hull (LB - Penn State)

Love the R7 pick. I can't understand why no team drafted him when they could have. If it turned out that he had committed some crime, so you cut him. R7 pick isn't going to make your team anyway. Very dumb move by all 32 teams.

I like your trade up too, as long as it wasn't for Fowler.

I liked this thread; too bad it didn't get more run.

I thought it would have been a good one too. Too many people on this board see everything as negative and a swipe at the Cards, instead of just having fun and relaying what their thoughts are at times. JMO.

He said he wouldn't sign & would re-enter the draft if he was picked after rd 2.

Perfect draft, IMO.

1- Preston Smith - OLB
2- Randy Gregory - OLB
3-Lael Collins - T/G
4- Rodney Gunter - lol, im just curious to see who he is.
5-Ifo Ekpre-Olomu - CB
5- Michael Bennett - DT
7- Taiwan Jones - LB

bunch of good UDFA powerbacks + there will surely be plenty of veteran powerbacks available come cuts.

He said he wouldn't sign & would re-enter the draft if he was picked after rd 2.

I think it might still have been worth the gamble. If he doesn't sign and re-enters the draft and is a first round pick, that's 2 potential extra years until his second contract (this year plus the option year on a first round pick) vs. just playing it out when drafted this year. It's one thing to talk tough before it happens -- and in reality it worked out fantastically well for him -- it's another thing to actually earn no income for an entire year and gamble on a team taking you high next year after not playing football for a year. Either way, it was a brilliant strategy by his agent!
