Eldorado's Jaysen Santellano win's state powerlifting title, plus other West Texas performers

Eldorado's Jaysen Santellano took home gold in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association'sstate meet last week, cementing a successful 2025 season for the sport across the West Texas Area.

The THSPA's championship event featured hundreds of lifters from across the state, all convening in Abilene from March 22-23 for the final meet of the season.

Santellano won the 198-pound weight class in Division 4 with a total weight of 1,630 pounds, beating the second-place finisher by 50 pounds. He finished with a 610-pound squat, a 420-pound bench press and a 600-pound deadlift.

Jasi Galindo's fourth-place finish in the 148-pound class gave Eldorado a fourth-place team finish, which was the highest of any team from the area.

Some other performances from the area lifters included Sonora's Jorge Leija's second-place finish in the 123 class with a total weight of 1,145 pounds.

Miles’ Ethan Crouch was third in the 148-pound class with 1,355 pounds, while his teammate, Ryder Satepauhoodle, was fourth in the 132-pound class with a total of 1,130 pounds.

Reagan County’s Ruben Bernal earned a fourth-place finish in the 165-pound class with a total weight of 1,385 pounds.

While in Division 2, Lake View's Ethan Packard finished fourth in the 132-pound category with a total weight of 1,225 pounds.
