The NFL draft gets underway Thursday, and several Auburn Tigers are expected to hear their name called during the three-day event held in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
One of those is Jarquez Hunter, who is set to begin the next step of his football career following a successful career at Auburn. He rushed for 3,371 yards and 25 touchdowns in four seasons on the Plains.
Where will Hunter end up? ESPN's Jordan Reid shared his prediction ahead of the start of the NFL draft. According to Reid's mock draft, which includes a prediction of all 257 picks in this year's draft, Hunter is slated to fall to the 6th round, going to the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 210 pick.
Hunter finished ninth among running backs in the 40-yard dash during the NFL scouting combine last month. His 4.44 time tied Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, and he was one of several backs to record at least a 4.4 at the event in Indianapolis, Indiana. Hunter showcased his speed, but wants to become known for something different in the NFL: catching.
“I feel like it’s really underrated because I did not catch it a lot at Auburn," Hunter said of his catching ability. "I know for myself how dominant I can be in the passing game.”
Hunter will wait to hear his name called during this year's NFL draft, which will begin Thursday, April 24, and last until Saturday, April 26.
