b) Alexander to stay in Seattle
c) NY Jets looking at Jay Cutler at #4

Hopefully that Backus rumor isn't true. After all the tagging is done it doesn't look like there will be that many O-Line upgrades in free agency.

It's all rumors but it all makes sence except for the Jets taking Cutler at 4. IMO that would be a huge reach.

Actually, the Titans are said to be interested in him over Vince Young at #3.

Anyone taking Cutler or Young early in the first round are destined to drafting a bust. These guys will never be able to live up to the hype of being a top draft pick.

Unless you know something that draft scouts don't, how can you begin to say this?

I doubt they tag him.

This may be true.

I can see the Jets fans already with horrid looks of shock on their face as everyone else at the draft laughs at them.

I doubt it. Backus is way overrated.

Purely a rumor and nothing more. It will never happen.

I doubt they tag him.

They would tag him and then pursue a trade is what I am hearing.

Drafting these guys high forces them to play early because of the amount of money they will be making. Both of these guys are not ready to start and will struggle. This will destroy their confidence and ruin their careers.

This is the speculation....it appears however that they have NO, NADA,ZIP conversations with Chester Taylor, which might mean that they keep him.

The next question is.....would you rather have Lewis at $6MM or Taylor at $3MM.....which will become the heart of the matter.......and I don't have the answer.

Like Palmer, McNair, Culpepper, Pennington and Rivers(who all sat as rookiees despite being high first rounders)? Not true at all. Teams can be patient when necessary.

McNabb didn't play as a rookiee until the Eagles season was in the tubes(I think it was against our Cardinals at SDS too).

Alex Smith was rushed but in his case the 49ers didn't have anything at QB in front of him and they had to know they had a bad team.

Why wouldn't you just take McNeill or the guy from Penn State on the second day and get a player that can, like, play his real position from the start?

Just something for you to chew on.

Not really do you remember last year when a QB from Alabama was a college Qb and he was drafted in the first round to play TE. He turned out to mak th all rookie team. So it is not a stretch for us to take VY and convert him into a WR. Remeber how green drafts "best avaliable player!"

ARRRRGH......we don't need to use a high draft pick on a player and try to convert him to something he's never been......and furthermore, we don't even need a WR.

This post is preposterous.

Maybe we might. (But I'd substitute Omar Jacobs for Robinson in my thinking).

It depends on how our scouts view Young. Interesting dialog (supported by tape) on NFL Net yesterday between Corey Chavous and Mike Mayock.

Chavous featured examples of Young making throws that aspiring QB's dream of making - keeping the ball away from defenders, throwing to spots well ahead of time, fitting the ball in narrow windows etc.

You can make either case (i.e. that Young lacks the tools and represents a questionmark or that he's shown scouts enough to convince them he's the real deal).

It will all come down to eyeballs watching tape, phone calls to guys he's played with, against and for and coaches talking to and working with Young.

(Note - I have a soft spot in my heart for Corey, and not because he was once a Cardinal. He's the only other draft geek out there - other than me- nutty enough to rate McNeal at or near #1).

jay cutler will be drafted in the first round. so if you like him then you take him. i can say for a fact if cutler is still there at the number 10 pick, the cardinals will take him.

You cannot say anything "for a fact".......unless you are either Graves or Green. This is your opinion....which I might add, is not universally shared.
