Apparently they looked into the impermissable phone calls and found more dirt. He made more than 100 calls that were violations after making more than 600 such calls at OU. He was on probation at the time of the calls at IU and IU could be facing major violations and probation. ESPN is suggesting the likely course of action will be to fire Sampson.

Doesn't appear they will be out of this years tourney the committee doesn't meet until June so unless they put restrictions on themselves they will be tournament eligible this season.

I said it before and I'll say it again, they knew who Sampson was when they hired him.

The committee should meet immediately, and ban Indiana from post-season. Make the current ill-gotten recruits suffer.

Gordon is gone after this year, so he should never be able to play in the tourney.

INDIANA=LYING, CHEATING, SCUM.

They will not fire him.... now.

I don't know the NCAA outright said that Sampson lied to both IU and the NCAA investigators about the calls when he was asked about them. I can't see how IU can not fire him after that. Now if you mean today yeah he won't be fired today, but I would be surprised if he survives once the year is over.

They said IU would only pull out if they believed any of their players were ineligible because of the violations, since the NCAA doesn't think they are, IU would be allowed to play postseason this year. Then assuming the committee finds them guilty of violations they would go on probation.

I forget where I read it but I seem to recall reading none of the phone calls were to Gordon? The big issue is they outright said Sampson lied to the NCAA,
that's going to cost him his job and rightly so.

Indiana has a chance to win the Big Ten and get a big seed. Once the season and NCAAs are over then they will revisit Kelvin. IMHO. Too bad they don't have the integrity to do it now.

And to think Jim Livengood would've hired this scumbag the UA job if Lute retired after Bobbi O's death like he deeply considered.

Wow. I was way wrong on this one. My dumb prediction was the NCAA would do nothing.

This is encouraging news.

Yup. They fire Sampson and prodigal son , Bobby Knight, comes riding in to save the day. How convenient is that. Pat Knight stays at TT, keeping the job Bobby gift wrapped for him, while Bobby goes back to Bloomington to get his revenge on Myles Brand. Ain't that amusing, but possible... and mind numbingly wierd.

Knight ain't coming back to Bloomington, as much as they may love the guy there winning is still the priority (the win at all costs mentality allowed them to hire well-known shadeball Sampson) and Bob hasn't won in years. I'm sure Jon would also love to see Knight choke out Eric Gordon for missing a defensive assignment. Kelvin's definitely looking like he's toast though pretty soon here and with any luck he never gets another coaching gig ever again.

As to who they bring in? They might bring Alford back but he never did anything at Iowa. Scott Drew would be a nice fit and he's got practice rebuilding a program with NCAA restrictions. Sean Miller would come from Xavier. Jamie Dixon is rumored to be waiting for a West Coast gig. Herb Sendek's name is also going to be out there this offseason but I get the feeling he'd rather tread water and not have to deal with high expectations at ASU for the next twenty years.
